Looking for a break from burgers? Check out our review of the Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld Orlando offers at its Antarctica-themed Expedition Cafe.

Expedition Cafe

When navigating a busy day at SeaWorld Orlando, many guests prioritize finding a substantial meal that strays from the standard burger-and-fries routine. Expedition Cafe, located in the Antarctica realm of the park, serves as a global food court designed to satisfy diverse cravings. On a recent high-crowd weekday, we stopped by to see how the Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld Orlando sells at the Asian station held up under pressure.

What is Expedition Cafe?

Expedition Cafe

Expedition Cafe is themed as an Antarctic mess hall, serving as the primary dining hub for researchers and explorers. The venue features a “market-style” setup with three distinct culinary stations: American, Italian, and Asian.

While the concept of variety is a plus, the logistics can be challenging during peak hours. Guests enter the building to select food from their chosen station, but must then exit to an outdoor cashier area to pay. If your meal includes a fountain beverage, you must re-enter the building against the flow of incoming traffic to reach the soda dispensers. During our 11:30 a.m. visit, the queues were long, and the nearby seating was fully occupied, so we took our meal to the not-so-nearby Chick-fil-A seating area, which often remains less crowded since it is not part of the park’s All-Day Dining program.

The SeaWorld Orlando All-Day Dining Plan

While it offers significant value, especially for pass members who occasionally receive plan perks, it is important to note the participating locations. For instance, while Chick-fil-A at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is included in their version of the plan, the Chick-fil-A location at SeaWorld Orlando is currently excluded.

For many visitors, the All-Day Dining Plan is a cornerstone of the SeaWorld experience. The program allows guests to enjoy an entrée, a side or dessert, and a non-alcoholic beverage once every 90 minutes at participating locations throughout the park. The normal cost for this plan is $59.99. However, discounts do apply.

Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld Orlando Price – $19.99

Nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents. In the “real world,” that gets you a solid meal at a bistro or a very confused Uber ride across town. At SeaWorld Orlando’s Expedition Cafe, it gets you a scoop of Teriyaki Chicken, a mound of fried rice, and the privilege of playing “Human Frogger” against a tide of thirsty tourists just to fill your own Coke Zero Sugar.

At $19.99 before tax or discounts, you aren’t just buying lunch; you’re practically financing a researcher’s trip to the actual Antarctica. For twenty bucks, you might expect the chicken to be hand-delivered by a tuxedo-clad penguin or perhaps seasoned with gold-leaf flecks. Instead, you get a sauce-heavy experience that, while better than a dry burger, is essentially the “premium subscription” version of mall food.

It’s the kind of price point that makes the All-Day Dining Plan look like a heist in your favor. When you’re staring at a $20 receipt for a cardboard tray of poultry, you realize that in theme park currency, a single dollar has the purchasing power of a nickel. Otherwise, at these rates, you’d be checking the “add-on” menu just to see if a fork costs extra.

Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld Orlando: How Did It Taste?

Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld Orlando

The Teriyaki Chicken is a staple we have enjoyed previously at both this location and Dragon Fire Grill at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. On this visit, the chicken was well-prepared and avoided the common pitfall of being dry, largely thanks to the generous amount of sauce it was cooked in. The flavor profile sat just slightly below what you might expect from a chain like Panda Express, though the addition of peppers and carrots provided a necessary crunch and depth to the dish. Toward the end, the meal did become a bit greasy, which is often par for the course with theme park quick-service Asian cuisine.

The accompanying fried rice was plentiful but leaned toward average in terms of seasoning. However, having a starch option that isn’t fries is a welcome change of pace at SeaWorld Orlando. When combined, the chicken and rice created a satisfying, yet standard, theme park meal.

We also opted for the egg rolls as our side. These have long been a go-to snack for us at the park. While they arrived warm, they weren’t quite as crisp as we’ve experienced in the past. We attributed this slight dip in quality to the high volume of food being pushed out of the kitchen to meet the midday rush.

Expedition Cafe remains a solid choice for those utilizing the All-Day Dining Plan, provided you can navigate the logistical hurdles of the beverage stations and seating. The Teriyaki Chicken SeaWorld sells is a reliable, filling option that offers a break from traditional theme park fare, even if the experience on a crowded day can feel a bit rushed.
