Not too long ago, we shared our thoughts on a very specific, savory morning favorite in our original Steakhouse 71 breakfast burger review. It was an absolute home run of a meal, but we knew we needed to return to explore more of what this menu has to offer.
Recently, we made our way back over to Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for breakfast. Once again, the experience reminded us exactly why this has secured its place as one of our absolute favorite breakfast spots on Walt Disney World property.
Every single time we dine here, we find that the food is incredibly consistent, the service is warm and welcoming, and the menu hits that perfect sweet spot. It offers familiar, comforting breakfast classics but elevates them with just enough Disney polish to make the meal feel like a special event.
The Atmosphere and Standout Disney Service

Located on the first floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Steakhouse 71 has a sleek, 1970s-inspired design that pays tribute to the opening year of Walt Disney World. It is bright, clean, and retro-chic, offering a relaxed environment before you head out to brave the crowds at the Magic Kingdom.
While the mid-century modern aesthetic is beautiful, it is the staff that truly makes the dining room shine. During our most recent visit, our server was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive, friendly, and kept our morning running smoothly. That kind of hospitable, genuine service is exactly what elevates a simple breakfast into a memorable dining experience.
Walt’s Prime Rib Hash: A Savory Steakhouse 71 Breakfast Masterclass

If you are looking for a hearty, savory dish to fuel a long park day, look no further than Walt’s Prime Rib Hash. Priced at $18, this dish features a generous portion of seared prime rib, fried potatoes, caramelized onions, and peppers, all topped with an egg cooked exactly to your liking.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the prime rib. It was incredibly tender, deeply flavorful, and not at all dry or overcooked, which is a common pitfall for breakfast hashes at busy restaurants. The potatoes were seasoned beautifully and cooked to a perfect golden texture. When you break the yolk of the fried egg and let it mix with the savory prime rib and sweet caramelized onions, it creates a rich, satisfying combination. The breakfast potatoes on the side were excellent. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. However, it was the biscuit that stole a bit of the spotlight. It was remarkably soft and tender, and it was served with easily spreadable butter. This may seem like a minor detail, but anyone who has ever had to fight a frozen, solid brick of butter at a restaurant table knows that soft butter automatically earns huge bonus points in our book.

Another member of our group decided to assemble a custom side-item plate, choosing a side of bacon and cheddar grits along with a side of sausage. The grits were spectacular. They were incredibly creamy and rich, carrying a deep, smoky bacon flavor throughout the dish. Honestly, they reminded us quite a bit of the famous grits served over at Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, which is high praise. The side of sausage was also excellent. We are convinced that Disney breakfast sausage hits differently than anything you can buy at the grocery store. While we do not know what specific brand they use, they have our full, enthusiastic support.
A Sweet Steakhouse 71 Breakfast Surprise: Key Lime Pancakes

If you are looking to shake up your morning routine at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the rotating seasonal pancakes at Steakhouse 71 are an absolute sleeper hit. These pancakes bring high-quality, dessert-for-breakfast energy to an otherwise classic table-service menu. Interestingly, with the exception of the fall sweet potato variation, the pancakes themselves are typically the restaurant’s standard, light, and fluffy buttermilk flapjacks. The real “seasonal” magic lies entirely in how they are dressed up, featuring thick, decadent, house-made drizzles and highly textured toppings piled on top rather than ingredients mixed directly into the batter.

When autumn arrives, the cozy vibes take over with a rich Pumpkin Pecan version served with spiced pecans and sweet cream cheese icing. No matter when you secure a reservation, these loaded stacks deliver a perfectly balanced, sweet breakfast treat that pairs beautifully with a savory side of crispy bacon or a bowl of the restaurant’s famous, ultra-creamy cheesy grits.
Our Experience
So, just when we thought we had our savory favorites locked in, the kitchen brought out the absolute surprise of the meal: the seasonal pancakes. We had anticipated a classic, berry-based seasonal offering, but we were treated to Key Lime pancakes instead. These were thick, fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with a tangy key lime drizzle, whipped cream, and a dusting of crumbled graham crackers.
Eating these felt exactly like having a slice of key lime pie in pancake form. It was essentially dessert for breakfast, but we are not complaining. After all, sweet breakfast items like pancakes, waffles, French toast, and cinnamon rolls have always been “breakfast desserts” anyway.
The best part of this sweet treat is that you do not have to commit to a massive, sugary main course to experience it. You can order the seasonal pancakes as a side dish, which makes them absolutely perfect for sharing with the table.
