Our Burnt Ends Slider review covers SeaWorld Orlando’s BBQ fest bite: large portions (for a slider), smoky onions, and mild flavor—was it worth the $12.99?

Ah, summer in Florida. The heat’s oppressive, the humidity is also legally classified as soup, and SeaWorld Orlando is throwing their annual Bands, Brew & BBQ Festival like they’re trying to bribe us into loving July and August. And, friends—it’s working. Live music? Cold beer? Additionally, smoked meats that flirt with your cholesterol? Sign. Me. Up!

But today we’re not talking about the music (although I did catch a dad trying to line dance to a cover of “Mr. Brightside,” and we’ll never be the same). No, today we’re diving teeth-first into one item from the Kansas City BBQ booth that stood out—not for its flavor, but for its price tag and… sheer volume. Ladies and gentlemen, allow us to introduce the Burnt Ends Slider. In fact, we have a full Burnt Ends Slider review.

It’s a Slider… Technically.

The menu description for the Burnt Ends Slider reads, “Pickled red onions, BBQ Sauce on a toasted King’s Hawaiian slider roll.” This “slider” costs $12.99 without a sampler lanyard. For reference, you could buy three sliders at a fast-casual restaurant, or two gallons of gas (depending on the day and how much your local station hates you). For that price, we assumed we were getting either culinary enlightenment or the cow itself.

What we actually got was a slider so overfilled, it defied physics. The bun also looked like it had just given up, slouching under a pile of burnt ends and saucy debris like it knew it wasn’t going to make it through the afternoon. Okay, you can see from the photos that we are exaggerating. However, our group thought this slider provided plenty of meat

But listen—overfilled is never a bad thing at a food festival. If we are paying theme park-level prices, we expect a meat avalanche. And SeaWorld delivered. The burnt ends themselves were tender, smoky little nuggets of beef bliss… except for one issue: the BBQ flavor was tragically mild. At a festival literally named after BBQ, that’s like attending a jazz festival and only hearing elevator music.

Burnt Ends Slider Review: Pepper Placement – A Pro Tip

This slider comes with pickled onions, and we swear they’re trying to put onions in every dish this year. We wouldn’t be surprised if they handed us a cocktail along with an onion garnish. Fortunately, it works here and also gives the sandwich some soul. You’ll find it tangled up in the beef like it got lost on its way to a fajita platter.

Then there’s the large pepper that comes on top of the slider. It just sits there like a garnish. However, no one tells you what to do with it. Do you nibble it politely? Chuck it at a seagull? We say: slice it up and put it inside the slider. It adds a mild kick, like your tastebuds getting a tiny love tap. Now the slider has personality. Bold move, flavor. Bold move.

Sampler Lanyards: Your Wallet’s Best Friend

Now let’s talk strategy. If you’re shelling out $12.99 per item, you might as well open a BBQ savings account. But fear not! The Sampler Lanyard is here to rescue your budget and also your appetite.

For the 2025 Bands, Brew & BBQ Festival, SeaWorld Orlando offers Sampler Lanyards that allow you to pay a flat rate for a number of food and drink items. Prices go like this:

  • $45 for 5 samples
  • $65 for 10 samples

Which means that same burnt ends slider that would cost $12.99 on its own can come down to about $6.50 per sample if you go big with the 10-sampler option. That’s nearly 50% off, or as I like to call it, “not crying at checkout.” SeaWorld pass members also receive a few additional samples, making the value even higher.

The lanyards are shareable, so your crew can pass it around like the Holy Grail of meat sweats. Just make sure your math friend is there so you don’t accidentally blow your last sample on a lone soft pretzel.

Burnt Ends Slider Review: Close But No Grill

So, is the Burnt Ends Slider worth trying? Sure. It’s filling, it’s meaty, and additionally, it’s got a pepper you can boss around. But is it worth $12.99 without a lanyard? Absolutely not, unless you’re made of money or own a cow named “Brisket.”

The flavor, while solid, isn’t bold enough to headline a BBQ festival. This is Bands, Brew & BBQ, not Bands, Brew & Mildly Seasoned Meat on Bread. Step it up, Kansas City booth—give us the BBQ punch to the face we crave. Until then, grab a sampler lanyard, bring a few friends, and prepare to leave the festival $65 lighter but several sliders wiser. Also, SeaWorld Orlando maybe skip the onions next time. They’re starting to unionize.
