Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt Review: New at Hops & Barley for Epcot Food & Wine 2026

Published by Jon Self on

The Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt is new at Hops & Barley for Epcot Food & Wine 2026, joining a returning seafood roll and pudding cake.

Barbecue fans have a new reason to make a stop at the American Adventure during the 2026 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. The Hops & Barley Global Marketplace is serving up the Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt this year, a new sandwich built around chopped smoked brisket, caramelized onions, tangy barbecue sauce, and cheddar sauce on a potato roll. If you have never stopped at Hops & Barley before, or you just want to know whether the new melt is worth the detour, here is everything guests need to know before ordering.

What to Know About Hops & Barley and the Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt

  • Location: American Adventure, World Showcase
  • Festival dates: August 27 through November 21, 2026
  • No separate ticket needed: the festival is included with valid Epcot admission, though food and drinks are purchased separately
  • New for 2026: Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt ($6.49)
  • Also on the menu: Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll ($8.99, a 30th Anniversary Legacy Item) and Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake ($4.99)

As with every Global Marketplace at the festival, Hops & Barley is an à la carte, walk-up stop. There is no reservation involved. Guests order at the window and find a spot to eat somewhere around World Showcase. We wish you luck with the ordering queue and finding a good dining spot. Sometimes those are the biggest challenges when visiting during an Epcot festival. However, this area offers more seating than most Global Marketplaces.

$6.49

The Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt is built on a potato roll, a good structural choice for a barbecue sandwich since potato bread tends to hold up well against sauce without falling apart halfway through. In recent days, we have struggled with sandwiches falling apart.

For this 2026 Epcot Food & Wine Festival offerings, guests receive chopped smoked brisket as the base, topped with caramelized onions for sweetness, a tangy barbecue sauce for acidity, and a cheddar sauce that pushes the whole sandwich toward comfort-food territory rather than a straightforward barbecue plate. At $6.49, it is one of the more approachable price points at this year’s festival, especially compared to some of the eight- and nine-dollar entrées showing up at other Global Marketplaces. However, we felt this slider-sized entrée fails to be truly shareable.

That price, combined with the potato roll format, makes this one of the easier festival items to eat while walking rather than sitting down. Of course, the small, sample-sized portion helps keep the price down.on this 2026 Epcot Food & Wine Festival offering.

The combination of caramelized onions, tangy barbecue sauce, and cheddar sauce means guests should expect a sandwich that leans sweet and rich rather than smoky and restrained. Guests who prefer their brisket to speak for itself, without a cheese sauce layered on top, may want to ask about the seasoning before ordering. Guests who like their barbecue sandwiches dressed up will likely find this an easy, crowd-pleasing choice.

Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt: This is Very Good…Just Not Great!

Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt at 2026 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

We had this twice on the opening weekend of the 2026 Epcot Food & Wine Festival. We wanted to love this. Despite that, It basically eats like an elevated barbecue sloppy joe slider. The cheddar sauce blends into the barbecue sauce more than standing out on its own, but it still adds richness. Guests may not identify the meat as brisket, but that really doesn’t hurt the dish. It just comes across as a good barbecue sandwich. This could have been better.

One Common criticism involves a lack of a strong barbecue flavor. Also, some guests did not like the texture of the potato bun. Does it make a good option that we might get again? Sure. Is it among the best Epcot festival items we have tasted in the American area? Absolutely not!

The Rest of the 2026 Hops & Barley Menu

The Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt is not the only reason to stop at this marketplace. The Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll returns as a 30th Anniversary Legacy Item, a designation Walt Disney World has used this year to mark the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s 30th anniversary since its 1996 debut. That sandwich features warm-water lobster, rock shrimp, lobster bisque, and sherry-crème fraîche on a toasted brioche bun, priced at $8.99. For dessert, the Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake, served with Kentucky bourbon caramel, rounds out the food menu at $4.99.

On the beverage side, Hops & Barley leans into its name with a rotating beer lineup. New for 2026 are the Harpoon Brewery Southie Lager out of Boston and the Allagash Brewing Company Haunted House Hoppy Dark Ale out of Portland, Maine, both priced between $6.00 and $9.75 depending on pour size. The Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red Irish Red Ale returns as well, and guests who cannot decide can order the Beer Flight for $12.75 to sample multiple options in one stop.

Hops & Barley is just one stop among more than 30 Global Marketplaces spread across Epcot for the 2026 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which runs from August 27 through November 21, 2026. We rounded up every Global Marketplace menu, including new dishes, returning favorites, and plant-based options, in our complete Epcot Food & Wine 2026 menus guide.

A few practical notes for guests unfamiliar with the festival format:

  • The festival is included with valid Epcot theme park admission. There is no separate festival ticket.
  • Food, beverages, merchandise, and certain experiences all require separate purchases on top of park admission.
  • Some Global Marketplaces open on a phased schedule throughout the festival rather than all on opening day, so it is worth checking official Disney sources before finalizing dining plans for an early-festival visit.
  • Beyond eating, the festival includes the Eat to the Beat Concert Series at America Gardens Theatre, Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt, and Emile’s Fromage Montage cheese-focused food stroll.

Tips for Visiting Hops & Barley

  • Study the full 2026 Global Marketplace lineup ahead of time and build a short list of must-try dishes before entering the park.
  • Consider pairing the Smoked Brisket and Cheddar Melt with the Beer Flight if you want to sample the new Harpoon and Allagash offerings without committing to a full pour of each.
  • Keep the Festival Passport in mind if you plan to participate in Emile’s Fromage Montage or other festival food challenges.
