From Wild Adventures to Tampa Bay: Jon Vigue Takes the Reins as Busch Gardens’ New President

Jon Vigue takes the helm as the new Busch Gardens president in Tampa Bay, navigating a $100M infrastructure expansion effort.
A new chapter is officially underway at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The Florida theme park announced the appointment of Jon Vigue as its new Busch Gardens president, stepping into the role during a significant period for the park, which is currently in the middle of a massive, multi-faceted $100 million investment dedicated to brand-new attractions, entertainment options, and park-wide enhancements.
New Busch Gardens President – Jon Vigue

Vigue brings nearly 30 years of attractions industry experience to the park. He joins the team following a highly successful tenure at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Georgia, where he championed operational strategies that elevated guest satisfaction and established long-term growth. Prior to that, Vigue spent nearly two decades revitalizing Connecticut’s historic Lake Compounce Theme Park. He has also been a heavily involved leader within the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) since 2007, recently serving as the Chair of the Food & Beverage Committee for North America.
“We are strategically focused on enhancing every aspect of the guest experience at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Jon’s extensive industry experience makes him the ideal leader to help guide that vision forward,” said Kyle Miller, Co-Chief Parks Operations Officer at United Parks & Resorts, Busch Gardens’ parent company. “As we continue making meaningful investments across the park, we are confident Jon’s leadership, operational excellence and passion for innovation will help drive our next chapter of growth.”
Navigating a Revolving Door: Leadership Turnover in Tampa Continues With New Busch Gardens President
While the announcement of the new Busch Gardens president brings plenty of optimism for the future, Vigue’s arrival highlights a persistent trend of rapid leadership turnover at the Tampa property. The park has seen a revolving door of leadership over the past couple of years, leaving fans and industry insiders wondering if this appointment will bring the long-term stability the park needs.
To look back at how quickly things have shifted, we previously reported on the high-profile arrival of Brian Bacica, which was viewed as a major milestone for the destination (see Brian Bacica Busch Gardens Appointment Marks New Era of Leadership). However, that era cut short when news broke that he was leaving the post (read Brian Bacica Busch Gardens Park President Reportedly Exits). Bacica ultimately transitioned over to head up a major competitor in Central Florida, as detailed in our coverage of the move (Brian Bacica Legoland Florida President). With the position seeing multiple changes in a short span, local passholders are hopeful that Vigue’s deep industry roots will anchor the park through its current high-stakes expansions.
A Wave of Multi-Million Dollar Expansions

Vigue’s leadership comes at a time when the park’s landscape is rapidly evolving. Following the 2025 debut of Wild Oasis, the park’s immersive family adventure area, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is preparing to unleash its largest animal habitat project in over a decade.
Opening this year, the all-new Lion and Hyena Ridge will serve as a centerpiece of the park’s ongoing biological and guest experience upgrades. This dynamic, state-of-the-art realm features:
- The Inhabitants: Five young male lions alongside a majestic pair of hyenas.
- Immersive Architecture: 270-degree viewing windows that bring guests closer to the wildlife than ever before.
- Natural Elements: Elevated rocky overlooks and cascading water features custom-tailored to stimulate the animals and captivate visitors.
Summer Nights Momentum: What to Expect Right Now

The momentum isn’t slowing down for the summer season. Park guests visiting over the next few weeks can dive into the return of the fan-favorite Summer Nights event, running most days through August 9. The event features extended park hours, allowing thrill-seekers to coast through the dark, alongside a stellar lineup of seasonal entertainment:
| Entertainment Type | Attraction / Show Name | Special Highlights |
| New Live Show | Beach Bash | Retro-inspired tunes, high-energy dance routines. |
| Returning Favorite | Boom Box Dance Party | High-intensity street beats and crowd participation. |
| Indoor Shows | Cirque Electric, Animal Tales, Icons, Rhythm of Nature | Air-conditioned environments to stay cool. |
| Nighttime Finale | Wild Skies: Drone Show & Fireworks Spectacular | 400 synchronized drones and brilliant fireworks. |
The dazzling Wild Skies nighttime show kicks off its season with a special patriotic production honoring America’s 250th Birthday, followed by an all-new, completely custom Busch Gardens drone spectacular launching on July 10. Guests 21 and older can also enjoy the return of the park’s popular complimentary beer offerings to round out their summer nights.

I look forward to working alongside our passionate ambassadors as we continue building on that legacy, investing in the future and creating unforgettable experiences for guests and families across Tampa Bay and beyond.”
He concluded with an enthusiastic nod to the park’s community: “I’m thrilled to be here and extremely excited about the future of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. I look forward to meeting our valued guests and annual passholders.” For more information about Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, please consult the theme park’s official website.
