Walking into Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin

Walking through the glass doors of the Walt Disney World Swan, you’re greeted not by Mickey ears or ride photos, but by something equally magical: the soft glow of fine dining and authentic Italian charm. At Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin, the experience uncorks like a fine chianti, full-bodied, refined, yet disarmingly warm.
Located on Epcot Resorts Boulevard, the Swan & Dolphin complex blends Disney convenience with Marriott elegance. Though not directly owned by Disney, these resorts offer Early Entry, park shuttles, and in-app conveniences, making them seamless additions to your Disney vacation.

The Swan & Dolphin were created through a unique joint venture involving Disney, Tishman, MetLife, and Starwood (now Marriott). The Swan is operated by Marriott’s Westin brand, while the Dolphin is under Sheraton. Despite separate ownership, Disney integrates both resorts into its promotions, offering guests a Disney-level experience.
Architecturally, the Swan and Dolphin are distinct yet harmonious, flanking Crescent Lake with striking swan and dolphin statues, joined by a covered walkway framing Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin within the resort’s elegant setting.
Into this blend of Walt Disney World convenience and elegant hospitality steps Il Mulino New York Trattoria, one of the resort’s Signature Dining venues, an Italian oasis combining refinement with relaxed vibrancy.

Inside Il Mulino, the vibe is unmistakably inviting. Candlelight dances over plush seating. The murmur of pleasant conversation, mixed with Friday-night piano or classical guitar, weaves a lullaby for the senses. As the sommelier suggests an Abruzzi red, the room feels both intimate and jubilant, a vibe hard to find amid theme-park hustle.

Our Most Recent Experience at Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin

We recently dined at Il Mulino New York Trattoria at Disney’s Swan Resort. This visit happened during the Orlando Magical Dining promotion. This allows guests to purchase a $40 prix fixe menu that features an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert.
In this theme park dining review, we will focus on the menu items we ordered that are commonly on the everyday menu. The Orlando Magical Dining menu lists a few items differently from the everyday menu at Il Mulino New York Trattoria.

Our meal started with bread service. The bread pairs very well with olive oil at the table. The bread service may vary based on the night. However, guests should expect a second type of bread underneath the more traditional bread.
Our Appetizers at Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin

Our group of two ordered:
- Insalata Trattoria -Organic Mixed greens, Seasonal Vinaigrette, Seasonal Vegetable
- Arancini Di Riso – Italian Rice Ball Stuffed with House-Made Bolognese over Spicy Marinara Sauce

For those who visualize all Italian places as standard Americanized Italian hybrids, IL Mulino deviates from that stereotype. Sure, it offers some standard Americanized menu items. However, guests can find plenty of more authentic Italian cuisine here. The salad provides a unique vinaigrette with plenty of flavor. This makes an excellent start to your meal.

Regarding the arancini, guests will appreciate the three good-sized rice balls. They were crispy on the outside and soft within. The combination of sauces pairs well the rice balls. Guests should prepare for some legitimate Italian spicy marinara with this appetizer.

Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin Entrees

Additionally, we ordered two entrees:
- Pollo Scarpariello -Hand-Cut Chicken with Garlic, White Wine, Wild Mushrooms and Spicy Cherry Peppers (Normally a $31 entree)
- Tonnarelli Amatriciana – Handmade Tonnarelli, Spicy Basil Sauce, Pancetta, Red Onion, Locatelli Romano Cheese, Caper Focaccia Crumble (Normally a $28 entrée)

We found both offered more than a standard Italian restaurant. The flavors did reflect more authentic Italian cuisine.

The Pollo Scarpariello presents guests with a healthy portion with surprising robust flavors. The combination of wild mushrooms and the white wine elevates this dish. Ironically, this Italian-Ameican dish, the “shoemaker’s chicken,” will show diners that Italian food offers more than pasta and red sauce.

We also ordered the Tonnarelli Amatriciana. Our group was not as familiar with this style of pasta. It works well holding the sauce. This egg pasta had a more square shape than the more common spaghetti pasta.
The sauce worked well with other components. Our main concern relates to the list of ingredients. In fairness, all the ingredients in the menu description we tasted in this dish. However, we wondered why there were so little of components like the caper focaccia crumble and pancetta. This did not take away from the dining experience. Still, those ingredients deserve a larger role in this dish.
Il Mulino Disney Swan and Dolphin Desserts During Orlando Magical Dining

Il Mulino offers a wide range of desserts. For Orlando Magical Dining, guests have three choices:

- Tiramisu -Espresso-Soaked Lady Fingers with Mascarpone Cheese Mousse, Cocoa (Regularly $14
- Le Tre Sorbetti – Trio of Flavorful Sorbets
- Panna Cotta – Chocolate hazelnut, orange marmalade
As has been common at Italian table service restaurants lately, there were some issues with the desserts. After a significant wait, we did receive a Tiramisu and a Pistachio Raspberry Opera Torte (regularly $16). You should notice the torte was not an original option. Nonetheless, our server offered it to us since other desserts were unavailable that evening.

The tiramisu offered all the flavors one would expect from this dessert. It came well-prepared with an excellent presentation. As you might expect, espresso lovers will find this dessert delightful.

However, the Pistachio Raspberry Opera Torte stole the show. The menu description reads, “Pistachio Sponge Cake, Raspberry Mousseline, White Chocolate Pistachio Crunch, Raspberry Ganache, Sicilian Pistachios.” The raspberry ganache tasted amazing! The torte display proper preparation and flavor balance. While we would have preferred more pistachio flavor overall, it is hard to complain about the flavors of this torte.
