The headliner we’re most curious about is Anaconda: Fear Has No Escape, the event’s sixth haunted house and the first haunted house in Howl-O-Scream history built around a licensed film property. We covered the house’s announcement back in July, and now that opening night is nearly here. So it feels like the right time to dig into what we know, what we’re speculating about, and the questions we think matter most before guests hand over their money for priority access.

What Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Has Told Us About Anaconda: Fear Has No Escape

According to the official Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream haunted house lineup page, the house’s premise runs like this: a film crew traveled deep into the jungle to shoot a remake of Anaconda, but something interrupted production before filming wrapped. The set now sits abandoned, camera equipment and staging left exactly where it fell as the jungle reclaims it. Guests search for the missing crew, and the deeper they go, the more the line between movie set and reality disappears.

This is the first time Sony Pictures has licensed Anaconda for a Halloween event, and Busch Gardens is running a companion house, Anaconda: Dead on Arrival, at Busch Gardens Williamsburg this year as well. Both houses share the jungle premise but tell different versions of the story, and United Parks & Resorts CEO Marc Swanson framed the addition as a way to elevate Howl-O-Scream’s reputation as one of the country’s top Halloween events.

Anaconda Howl-O-Scream House Location Confirmed via the Official Event Map

Anaconda sits in the Festival Grounds area near the Coke Canopy where Bier Fest happened, along the outer loop path that also holds the Rootbound and The Punchline: RIOT scare zones. It’s the same general footprint as the old Witch of the Woods trail, the wooded area we’ve walked through before. Our original guess, based only on the jungle premise and prior years’ maps, was that Busch Gardens would reuse that same wooded footprint. However, we encountered a different path than we first expected.

The former witch house leaned heavily on natural tree cover and dirt paths rather than a fully enclosed building, and given the confirmed location, we expected the Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house to lean the same way. A remake film set abandoned in the Amazon practically demands overgrown foliage, standing water, and props left to rot outdoors, so we thought a significant portion of this house would be an outdoor walkthrough rather than a traditional indoor haunted house. If true, it changes a few things guests should plan for, which we’ll cover in the weather section below.

The Big Question: Did Busch Gardens Stick the Landing With Its First IP House?

For most of Howl-O-Scream’s history, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has built its reputation on original haunted house concepts rather than licensed horror properties. That’s genuinely part of the event’s identity, and it’s a big part of why Florida haunt fans respect it. So the real question hanging over this whole rollout isn’t just “is Anaconda scary,” it’s whether the park’s first swing at an IP house actually justifies stepping away from that original storytelling approach, even for one house out of six.

We can say that the marketing behind this house has been unusually confident. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay spent an entire summer teasing a mystery sixth house with cryptic social posts before finally revealing it, and that kind of buildup only works if the park believes the payoff matches the hype. Whether guests walk out of Anaconda feeling like they experienced something worth breaking tradition for, or feeling like a familiar horror-movie premise got dropped into a jungle set with a fog machine, is exactly what we’re heading in to find out.

Anaconda Howl-o-Scream House: Our Experience!

During our media preview, we were allowed to walk through the Anaconda Fear Has No Escape house. This walk-through involved a scare-cam being attached to us. That video will be out soon. We did this last year for the M.A.R.S. house.

Based on the scare-cam, our experience may be very different than the one you have during the event. We will be back several more nights to experience the Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house again. Having said all of that, here are our initial reactions after the walkthrough.

Anaconda Howl-O-Scream House Media Preview Reactions:

• The jungle/wood elements work
• The weather will not be as big a factor as we thought. During our media preview, the Anaconda house experience was almost entirely indoors. However, the queue will be outdoors, so you may get wet while waiting on a rainy evening.
• To my surprise, this house is based on the most recent Anaconda movie with Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
• The Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house offered plenty of potential scares, and the actors fulfilled their roles well.
• This house used puppetry well.
• Most guests will find this to be a solid house for the 2026 event. We really enjoyed it!

Is a Sixth House Worth It When Five Others Basically Stayed the Same?

Here’s the trade-off worth thinking about. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is calling this the biggest haunted house lineup in Howl-O-Scream’s history, and on paper, six houses is more than five. Still, look closely at the other five, and most of them are the same physical houses guests have walked through before, just with reworked storylines layered on top:

• Stranglewood Estate: RePossessed (the mansion returns with a new haunting angle centered on a reckless séance).
• Circus of Fear: Killer Encore (the circus is back with its ringmaster missing and the performers left unchecked).
• Raven’s Mill: Lambs to the Slaughter (a returning storyline, largely unchanged from prior seasons).
• M.A.R.S. (officially billed as a returning favorite with no new storyline framing).
• Shadows of Wonderland: Reign of Madness (a new chapter of the Alice in Wonderland concept that has appeared in past years).

None of that is necessarily a knock. Reworked storylines can genuinely change the pacing, scares, and actor performances inside a house, even when the sets and building stay put. However, it does mean Anaconda is doing a lot of the heavy lifting for this year’s “new experience” pitch. If Anaconda underdelivers, guests are largely paying for the same five houses with new paint on the story, which is a very different value proposition than six genuinely new haunts.

The Front Line Fear Ultimate Catch

Here’s where the pricing gets interesting, and where we’d urge some caution before guests upgrade. According to Busch Gardens’ official upgrades page, most Front Line Fear passes don’t include Anaconda priority access. The base Front Line Fear pass and the Front Line Fear EXTREME tier both cover unlimited or one-time priority access to Stranglewood, Circus of Fear, Raven’s Mill, Shadows of Wonderland, and M.A.R.S., but Anaconda is carved out entirely. Even Fright Feast’s front-of-the-line perk, which runs from 7 to 8 p.m. most nights, explicitly excludes Anaconda.

The only upgrade that includes any priority access to Anaconda is Front Line Fear ULTIMATE, and even then it’s a single, one-time priority pass rather than unlimited access, and it’s voided once redeemed. Ultimate tickets start around $119.99 compared to $99.99 for EXTREME and $79.99 for the base Front Line Fear tier, based on pricing we’ve seen listed this summer. That’s a real premium to pay specifically for one trip through the event’s most hyped house.

Since regular standby guests and lower pass tiers have zero line-skipping options for the Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house, we expect it to post the longest wait times in the park most nights, especially early in the run when curiosity is at its peak. If getting inside Anaconda matters to you more than anything else at the event, Ultimate is currently the only guaranteed shortcut, and that’s clearly by design.

Will Weather Make the Anaconda Howl-O-Scream House Harder to Experience?

This is the part we’re genuinely worried about. Tampa Bay has seen more evening rain than usual heading into this year’s event. Tampa Bay meteorologists have flagged elevated afternoon and evening rain chances all week, with the pattern expected to hold through the weekend; other local forecasters project roughly 60 percent rain chances each afternoon and evening, with two to four inches of total rainfall possible over the coming week.

With the queue portion of Anaconda using outdoor pathing in its confirmed Festival Grounds location, that’s a direct problem. Outdoor haunted house paths at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay have historically closed or paused during active lightning and heavy rain, since sending guests through open dirt trails during a storm isn’t safe. Busch Gardens’ event terms already state there are no rain checks or readmits for Howl-O-Scream tickets, so a storm rolling through during your one night at the event, or during your one Front Line Fear Ultimate redemption at Anaconda, could mean the house closes with no guaranteed makeup opportunity.

Our advice heading in: if the forecast for your visit shows evening storms, don’t save the Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house for last. Prioritize it earlier in the night if it’s open, and have a backup plan if the skies open up. We’ll be watching the radar ourselves.

We were genuinely excited and a little skeptical heading into Wednesday. The Anaconda Howl-O-Scream house is the most ambitious swing the event has taken in years. If the outdoor jungle setting and licensed IP come together the way the marketing promises, it could be the best new house this event has produced in a while. Once again, we enjoyed our time in this house! Still, between the pricing structure that walls off easy access, the mostly unchanged five-house lineup underneath it, and a forecast that keeps threatening rain every single evening, there are real reasons this could be a rockier debut than the hype suggests.
