We tried the limited-time Honey Lime Chipotle Sandwich (officially the Honey Lime Chipotle Chicken Sandwich Platter) at Mango Market in Aquatica Orlando. This limited-time menu item will not be around for long (we think).

Chicken sandwiches aren’t exactly plentiful at Aquatica Orlando, so a new one at Mango Market caught our attention. In fact, there is not a chicken sandwich on the menus at Aquatica Orlando besides this limited-time one. The Honey Lime Chipotle Chicken Sandwich is a limited-time menu item, according to Aquatica. We expect it to stick around longer, but limited time is the current official word, so consider this your friendly nudge to try it sooner rather than later. We did, and here is how it went.

Meet the Honey Lime Chipotle Chicken Sandwich Platter

Here is the official menu description:

Fried chicken breast on a fresh brioche bun, topped with a tasty honey lime chipotle sauce and mango cole slaw, served with french fries.

The platter is priced at $18.29 and comes with fries. It is also part of All Day Dining, which helps soften the price if you are already using the deal.

What We Experienced

First, the good news. The sandwich arrived warm, and it is what it says it is: a fried chicken sandwich with honey-lime chipotle sauce and mango coleslaw on a bun. The bun is sort of brioche, which is fine for a water park lunch. Everything listed in the menu description is on the sandwich.

Now the less good news. The description over-promises a little on quality and flavor. The ingredients are all there, but the flavor is understated. We were hoping for a honey-lime-and-chipotle flavor with some personality, but instead the sauce and slaw politely stayed in the background. The chicken patty is also on the small side, especially when compared with the chicken sandwich at Busch Gardens. Sadly, the fries and slaw also follow the pattern of being understated.

To be clear, we like the addition. Aquatica does not have many chicken sandwiches, and this one fills a real gap on the menu. It feels like a solid starting point, but it could be better with a bolder sauce and a bigger patty.

Honey Lime Chipotle Chicken Sandwich: Is It Worth $18.29?

If you are using All Day Dining, this is a perfectly reasonable pick, and it is a nice change from the usual tenders and hot dogs. If you are paying out of pocket, the small patty and mild flavor make it a harder sell. We would call it good, not great, and a decent option when you want something that is not a burger. Of course, Aquatica Orlando is trying to convince you to buy the All-Day Dining Plan, which has increased in price to $54.99 per person.

Mango Market Basics

Mango Market is located toward the back of the park, near Sunrise Sips and Scoops. In fact, that coffee and ice cream spot was created within the existing Mango Market location, so if you read our Sunrise Sips and Scoops review, you already know the neighborhood.

The menu at Mango Market is mostly chicken tenders, hot dogs, and a pork sandwich, which is why the new chicken sandwich stands out. It also takes part in All Day Dining.

A quick note on hours. During our off-season weekday visit, Mango Market was only open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It also did not open on time, so if you are counting on a prompt 11 a.m. lunch, build in a little patience (and maybe a backup plan). Hours will vary by day and season.
