Every Epcot Food & Wine Festival has one sleeper hit. You know…the item nobody talked about in the pre-festival menu drops that ends up stealing the show once guests take a bite. For 2026, that item is the Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie at Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina in the Morocco section of World Showcase. At just $4.29, it is not only one of the best-tasting desserts on this year’s festival menu, but it is also one of the best values on the whole property. We tried it, compared it to the dessert everyone assumes it riffs on, and lined it up against the rest of this year’s festival sweets to see whether the price-to-payoff ratio holds up.:

Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie Epcot Food & Wine Festival: What It Is?
Walt Disney World’s own signage keeps things simple. It gives just the name and the price with no flavor description to set expectations. That is worth pointing out, because the cookie is doing a lot more than its bare-bones menu listing lets on. A dense, cocoa-forward cookie shell wraps around a smooth, distinctly nutty pistachio center, and the combination lands closer to a filled confection than a straightforward bakery cookie.
Our review, from a source we have to hear talk often (haha), highlights exactly why the dessert overperforms its billing. As they describe it, the cookie is clearly taking inspiration from the viral Dubai chocolate trend, and the payoff is a stuffed pastry that reads as far more luxurious than a $4.29 price tag would suggest. That comparison does not come from Walt Disney World ‘s marketing copy. It is our observation, and once you taste the cookie, it is hard to unsee.
How It Tastes: Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie vs. Dubai Chocolate
The soft, baked outer layer gives way to a dense, creamy pistachio filling, and the contrast between the two textures is what earns the cookie earns its reputation as one of the festival’s best sweet treats. It is rich without tipping into being overwhelming, and the pistachio flavor stays distinct instead of getting buried under sugar, which is a common failure point for pistachio desserts trying to chase a trend rather than nail a flavor.
So how does it actually stack up against the dessert that inspired it? The real Dubai chocolate bar, sometimes called a pistachio kunafa bar, traces back to a 2022 creation by Dubai chocolatier Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier, whose “Can’t Get Knafeh of It” bar became a global social media phenomenon. The original pairs a glossy milk chocolate shell with a filling of pistachio cream and crisp, toasted kataifi (shredded phyllo, also called kunafa), giving every bite a crackling, almost KitKat-like crunch alongside the pistachio richness.
Morocco’s cookie does not attempt to replicate that kunafa crunch, and it should not be judged as a direct copy. What it borrows is the flavor pairing, chocolate and pistachio in a dense, indulgent format, without the shattering pastry texture of the original. Think of it less as a kunafa bar in cookie form and more as a well-executed tribute that swaps crunch for a softer, more traditional cookie bite. For guests who have never tracked down an actual Dubai chocolate bar, which given the reported pistachio cream shortages in the U.S. is a real barrier for a lot of people, this is a far more accessible way to taste the trend.
Best Value at the 2026 Festival
Value is where this cookie really separates itself. At $4.29, it undercuts nearly every other dessert we tracked down across World Showcase this year. The Mickey-Shaped Celebration Macaron at Sunshine Seasons runs $6.29 for a cute presentation that is more novelty than knockout flavor, and it does not travel well in Florida heat. The Blackberry Buckle at Regal Eagle Smokehouse comes in at $4.79, a fair price for a lighter, fruit-forward dessert, but it is still a bit more than the Morocco cookie.
It is the kind of value we appreciate when we are also weighing purchases elsewhere in World Showcase, whether that is a fair-but-unspectacular Croqueta de Jamón in Spain or a scoop from the Salt & Straw Apple Series on a Disney Springs detour. A sub-$5 dessert that actually delivers on flavor is not something to take for granted at a festival where snack credits and dollars disappear fast.
The Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie Epcot offers fails to be a one-to-one recreation of a real Dubai chocolate bar, and it should not be marketed or expected as one. Still, as a chocolate-and-pistachio dessert in its own right, it is dense, well balanced, and genuinely one of the best-tasting items at the festival, all for well under five dollars.
