Our review of the Cold Stone Treat or Treat Creation at Universal CityWalk Orlando — a Halloween ice cream loaded with candy and cookies. Fun and festive, but a little messy. Available through October 31.

Cold Stone Creamery at Universal CityWalk Orlando has joined the Halloween fun with its seasonal Cold Stone Treat or Treat Creation. This spooky-themed ice cream is loaded with cookies, candies, and a rich, dark-colored base. Available only through October 31, this limited-time dessert promises a frightful sugar rush for theme park visitors looking to celebrate the season. However, while this creation brings plenty of Halloween spirit, its presentation and portion size might leave guests a little haunted.

Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation: The Look and the Scoop

Treat or Treat Creation

Visually, the Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation didn’t quite live up to the Cold Stone name. The dark ice cream color, though perfect for Halloween aesthetics, isn’t the most appetizing shade for everyone. Our order, a “Love It” size, was priced at $8.49; however, we received a small discount. Unfortunately, the portion looked closer to a “Like It” (Cold Stone’s smaller size) than what we expected from a “Love It.”

Presentation-wise, it’s a bit chaotic. There’s a lot going on here: cookies, Kit Kat pieces, and M&M’s all mixed into a busy swirl of dark ice cream. The overall appearance fell short of the “wow” factor we hoped for, especially compared to other Cold Stone Creamery Halloween treats, like the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco.

Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation: Taste and Texture

Treat or Treat Creation

When it comes to flavor, the Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation offers a mix of highs and lows. The ice cream itself stays deliciously cold and creamy from the first bite to the last, a true testament to the cold stone method. However, guests should be prepared for a messy experience. The dark-colored ice cream easily transfers to your hands, mouth, and tongue, leaving a spooky stain that lasts longer than the dessert.

Additionally, the black dye used with the Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation will have some after-effects similar to other theme park foods that use black dye. As a “If you know, you know” type thing, the black will last and perhaps come back to haunt you. You have been warned!

The candy mix-ins, while thematically fitting, become too cold, which makes them hard and slightly unpleasant to chew. The textures of the cookies, Kit Kat, and M&M’s don’t always blend well together, creating an uneven bite that can be distracting.

A Sweet Spot for a Theme Park Break

Cole Stone Creamery

Despite its flaws, Cold Stone Creamery remains a great stop for anyone visiting Universal Orlando Resort. On a warm Florida afternoon, it’s a refreshing escape from the parks, especially if you can find a quiet, air-conditioned spot like we did to enjoy your treat in peace. Please note that the shop tends to get very busy in the evenings, so earlier visits are recommended.

If you’re deciding between Cold Stone’s Halloween options, we’d recommend the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco over the Treat or Treat Creation. The Boo Batter Taco delivers better presentation, balance, and overall satisfaction for your Halloween sugar fix.

The Cold Stone Creamery Treat or Treat Creation captures the Halloween mood, but struggles with portion size, presentation, and the texture of the candy. Still, it’s a festive indulgence for Cold Stone fans or anyone craving a seasonal ice cream experience while visiting Universal CityWalk Orlando.
