We reviewed the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco from Cold Stone Creamery’s Halloween menu. Big, sweet, and delicious — see why it beats Salt & Straw’s Tacolate.

Earlier this month, the Boo Batter treats debuted for the month of October at the Cold Stone Creamery at Universal CityWalk Orlando and nationwide. We sent some of our excited food reporter to try the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco.
Halloween season always brings creative desserts to the theme park dining scene, but this year Cold Stone Creamery has delivered something that might just take the crown. Enter the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco. This seasonal treat combines Cold Stone’s iconic Cake Batter Ice Cream (dyed jet-black for spooky season) with layers of sweetness inside a chocolate-dipped waffle taco shell.

Cold Stone Creamery is an international ice cream chain known for the “Ultimate Ice Cream Experience.” They serve super-premium ice cream, made fresh in-store, which is customized by mixing various candies, nuts, and fruits into the ice cream on a frozen granite stone.

Our Review – Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco at Cold Stone Creamery

Our food reporters tracked one down at a Cold Stone Creamery off-site location, where the Boo Batter Taco rang up at $7.99 (though expect to pay a bit more at Universal CityWalk Orlando, but you can get up to a 15% annual pass discount there). What we loved immediately was the sheer size — it’s huge, easily sharable if you’re feeling generous, but also indulgent enough to enjoy solo. Each taco seems to be made in-house, wrapped in plastic wrap, giving them a perfectly imperfect handmade look.
The flavor combination hits all the right notes. Cold Stone’s Cake Batter Ice Cream is already a fan favorite, and here it’s elevated by the crunchy chocolate-dipped shell and an extra pop of sweetness from festive Halloween sprinkles. It’s playful, messy, and exactly what you want in a seasonal dessert.
How It Stacks Up

If you’ve tried Salt & Straw’s much-hyped Tacolate (reviewed here: Tacolate from Salt & Straw – Worth the Hype or Just Overpriced?), you might score it around a 6/10, like one of our food reporters did. By comparison, the Boo Batter Taco absolutely surpasses it. For taste, presentation, and fun factor, this is a solid 11/10. Yes, we know that is bad math. Still, if our food reporter states that, then we want to pass it along!
Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco

Cold Stone Creamery has nailed it with the Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco. It’s festive, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling like a gimmick. If you’re visiting Universal CityWalk Orlando this spooky season, we highly recommend adding it to your Halloween food crawl list. Of course, if you have a Cold Stone Creamery nearby, you could pop in for a Boo Batter Ice Cream Taco to see if you agree with our assessment. In fairness, we sent our ice cream expert to try this sweet treat!
Additionally, Cold Stone Creamery is still selling the limited-time Carnival ice cream creations. For more theme park dining reviews, visit MSM News every weekday at noon Eastern Time.
