A Little History Lesson on Kumba
Kumba is one of the most famous coasters built by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M). At over 140 feet tall with speeds up to 60 mph, it’s the kind of ride that separates casual theme park goers from the die-hard thrill seekers. For decades, Kumba has been a must-ride attraction at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, sitting proudly in the Congo section of the park.
Why Did Kumba Close?
Like any great roller coaster, Kumba needs regular TLC. Between track maintenance, train refurbishments, and safety checks, coasters of this size can’t run 365 days a year without a break. Busch Gardens has been tight-lipped about the exact details, but the work is necessary to ensure Kumba continues to roar for many more years.
When Does Kumba Reopen? It is Open!
Kumba’s closure may have left fans anxious, but the wait is almost over. Next time someone asks, “When does Kumba reopen?”, you can tell them confidently: It is open at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay! Get ready to hear that signature roar once again. For many, it’s going to be worth the wait.
