Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that Stardust Racers at Epic Universe will reopen on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, following a thorough technical and operational review.

The high-speed racing coaster has remained closed since the tragic death of Mr. Rodríguez Zavala, who passed away after riding the attraction last month. Universal extended its deepest condolences to Zavala’s family and loved ones, emphasizing its commitment to safety, professionalism, and compassion during this difficult time. In a letter to Team Members, Karen Irwin, President & Chief Operating Officer of Universal Orlando Resort, detailed the review process. She noted that ride systems functioned properly throughout the incident, with all procedures followed as intended. Universal partnered with state officials, the ride system manufacturer, and independent third-party coaster engineers to conduct and validate extensive testing.

Irwin also announced that Universal will be updating operational procedures and attraction signage to help guests better determine eligibility to ride. These changes will reinforce existing warnings and physical requirements across Stardust Racers and other attractions.

“Safety, as always, is our top priority,” Irwin wrote. “To further assist guests in determining whether they can or cannot ride an attraction, we are updating operational procedures and attraction signage to reinforce existing ride warnings and physical eligibility requirements.”

The reopening marks a significant step for Epic Universe, where Stardust Racers has been promoted as one of the park’s marquee attractions. Known for its multi-launch racing design and high thrill factor, the coaster has been highly anticipated by theme park fans worldwide. Its return will be closely monitored by both visitors and the industry, with safety remaining the clear focus moving forward.
