AMC Reveals Transformers 40th Anniversary Popcorn Tin, Cup, and Blanket

AMC unveils the Transformers 40th Anniversary Popcorn tin, cup, and blanket for the film’s 4K theatrical return, in theaters starting September 17.
AMC has unveiled its concession lineup for the 4K theatrical rerelease of The Transformers: The Movie, and the centerpiece is exactly what fans of the 1986 film have been hoping for: a 40th Anniversary popcorn tin wrapped in Cybertron battle art. It arrives alongside a matching cup and a blanket, all landing in theaters starting September 17.
What’s In the Transformers 40th Anniversary Popcorn Set

AMC’s lineup has three pieces, all sharing the same battle-scarred Cybertron artwork.
- Transformers 40th Anniversary Popcorn Tin: comes filled with popcorn and wrapped in art of Optimus Prime and the Autobots taking Decepticon laser fire, a nod to the film’s most chaotic battle sequence.
- 40th Anniversary Cup: matches the tin’s design and comes with a fountain drink.
- 40th Anniversary Blanket: printed with a torn, weathered take on the film’s poster art, plus the tagline “40 Years Later. It Still Hits Like a Truck.” It’s a fitting bit of self-aware humor for a movie best remembered for wrecking childhoods after watching their hero die on screen
Of the three, the blanket is the one worth getting excited about. Anniversary popcorn tins tend to blend together after enough of them, but a blanket is something collectors will actually use instead of parking on a shelf next to last year’s model.
Pricing and Availability
AMC hasn’t confirmed pricing yet. Based on comparable recent 40th and 25th anniversary tin and cup releases, expect the tin to land somewhere around $17.99 and the cup around $14.99, though those are estimates rather than confirmed AMC pricing.
All three items are in theaters only starting September 17, while supplies last, and additional fees apply to online orders. AMC’s fine print also notes that gourmet popcorn is excluded from the tin, the cup includes fountain drink only, and AMC Stubs upgrades don’t apply to collectible pricing.
Transformers 40th Anniversary Popcorn Tin and Collectibles: Why AMC Is Doing This Now
The rerelease is part of Hasbro’s year-long “Apology Tour” campaign marking 40 years since the original film’s ending left kids sobbing in theater seats. Fathom Entertainment is distributing the 4K rerelease, with tickets on sale now for the September 17 event, timed to Transformers Day. Also, there’s a reason to stay past the credits this time: the rerelease includes a brand-new post-credits scene made exclusively for this theatrical run, so early exits aren’t recommended.
