Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Refurb Closes This November, Right After the Railroad Shuts Down
The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure refurb starts November 2, right after the Walt Disney World Railroad closes for its own scheduled work.
Magic Kingdom guests planning a fall or early winter trip have two new dates to circle on the calendar. The Walt Disney World Railroad is heading into a temporary closure starting September 28, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will follow with its own refurbishment beginning November 2. Neither closure is permanent, but depending on when you’re visiting, you could end up with both attractions unavailable at the same time.
The Railroad Goes Dark September 28
Beginning September 28, 2026, the Walt Disney World Railroad will close for a routine refurbishment, with Walt Disney World currently targeting a return sometime in November.
In fairness, the railroad has already been running a scaled-back operation for months. Because of construction across Frontierland for Piston Peak National Park (the new Cars-themed land replacing Rivers of America) and the upcoming Villains Land, the train has been running in shuttle mode, going back and forth only between the Main Street station and the Fantasyland station, skipping Frontierland and Tomorrowland entirely. That shuttle setup is expected to stick around for the next few years while the surrounding construction continues, so this September closure is a pause on top of an already reduced route, not a new inconvenience layered onto full service. During the closure, the Main Street station itself will reportedly stay open so it can still be used as a viewing spot for parades and fireworks, even with no trains running.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Refurb Follows on November 2
Just as the railroad is expected to reopen, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closes for its own refurbishment. Walt Disney World has confirmed the log flume attraction, along with the adjacent Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s Bayou General shops, will close starting November 2, 2026. Walt Disney World is describing it as a routine refurbishment and currently expects the ride to return sometime in December, though an exact reopening date has not been announced.
Because neither reopening date is locked in yet, there is a real chance the railroad and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure could both be down at once for at least part of November. It might only be a few days of overlap, or it might not happen at all. Either way, if you’re booking a November trip right now, plan as though Tiana’s Bayou Adventure simply will not be running, and treat the railroad’s return as a pleasant surprise if it happens before you check out.
Planning Around the Closures
If a trip is already booked for late September through December, the safest approach is to build your must-do list around whichever attractions are confirmed to be open rather than banking on either the railroad or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Walt Disney World is treating both as temporary, and Big Thunder Mountain’s turnaround this spring is a good reminder that these closures often resolve into something worth the wait.
