The Everglazed Peanut Butter Explosion Donut Presents a Challenge – We Were Not Afraid!

A candy bar-sized Reese’s Cup on top of a loaded donut? We review the $6.95 Peanut Butter Explosion Donut at Everglazed Donuts at Disney Springs, plus some Tampa location and visit info. This donut presents a challenge in terms of sugar and size. Should you take it on?

Let us start with an honest confession. Nobody needs a donut with a full-size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup sitting on top of it. Your dentist doesn’t need it. Your blood sugar doesn’t need it. The little voice in your head that says “maybe just a plain glazed” definitely doesn’t need it. Still, here we are, because the Peanut Butter Explosion donut at Everglazed Disney Springs is our favorite donut in the entire shop. Also, we will not be taking questions from the plain glazed section.
What Is the Peanut Butter Explosion Donut at Everglazed?

This is a yeast donut with chocolate peanut butter frosting, peanut butter chips, and crushed Reese’s Cups. Notice the word “crushed.” Everglazed Donuts apparently felt that was not enough, because in our experience, you also get at least one full-size Reese’s peanut butter cup parked on top like a very delicious flag planted on a sugary mountain. That is a candy bar’s worth of Reese’s sitting on a donut that is already covered in more Reese’s. It is a peanut butter cup wearing a peanut butter cup costume. For the record, we have no regrets!
The name is accurate, by the way. This is less “donut” and more “small, edible peanut butter incident.” The sugar content is the kind of number you stop asking about after the first bite. We consider that a feature.
Price: $6.95 (Discounts Available)

The Peanut Butter Explosion costs $6.95 at Everglazed in Disney Springs. For context, the classic donuts on the current menu start at $4.95. So yes, you are paying a premium. It was $6.50 when we first reviewed it (several years ago), so the price has crept up, and so has our willingness to pay it. If you are a Reese’s fan, this is one of those cases where the math works. You are essentially getting a donut and a candy bar in one purchase.

Discounts are available, too. Everglazed has offered savings for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders and Walt Disney World cast members at 10% off for both groups, plus a deeper evening discount for cast members.
Peanut Butter Explosion Donut: How Does It Taste?

Like a peanut butter cup fan’s dream, it is exactly that. The frosting is genuinely good on its own, and the peanut butter flavor is much bigger than you would expect from a donut. The Reese’s on top is the real deal, with the quality you would hope for from something that costs this much.
Okay, we love this donut. However, we need to be fair…
All those toppings press the yeast donut down quite a bit, so what you get is a squished but still tasty base. The donut itself is better earlier in the day, since Everglazed yeast donuts tend to be best in the morning rather than the afternoon or evening. Additionally, this is a true fork-and-knife donut. Sure, we ate the whole thing, but we don’t recommend it as a solo mission unless your goal is a nap on a Disney Springs bench. Splitting it with a friend is the responsible choice. We did not make the responsible choice. However, we serve as professionals. Do not try this at home…Try it at a friend’s house! Yes, we hope that joke remains in the new Universal Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida.

You Can Also Get It at Everglazed in Tampa (If You Dare!)

Here is a little secret for our Tampa Bay readers. You do not have to go to Disney World to get this donut. The Peanut Butter Explosion is also available at the Everglazed location in Tampa at Sparkman Wharf. It costs less there, at $5.50. Of course, there are no Disney discounts in Tampa.
So should you race to save the $1.45? Based on our visits, no. The quality is far less at the Tampa location, and the whole point of this donut is the experience of getting it right. A cheaper, less-good peanut butter donut is just a sad peanut butter donut. If you are choosing between the two, the Disney Springs version is worth the extra money.
The Peanut Butter Explosion Donut is Our Favorite!

The Peanut Butter Explosion is ridiculous, indulgent and completely over the top, and we would not change a thing. It is the best donut at Everglazed, in our opinion, and a must try for anyone who thinks a candy bar belongs on top of breakfast. Grab a friend, grab a fork, and let the Reese’s do the talking.
