History was made at the Happiest Place on Earth today. As the Disneyland Resort continues to celebrate seven decades of magic during its spectacular 70th Celebration, a historic milestone was reached that few places across the globe could ever claim. Disneyland Park officially welcomed its honorary 1 billionth guest through the turnstiles, turning an ordinary summer day into an unforgettable lifetime memory.

The unsuspecting milestone maker was eight-year-old Andres Robles from Arizona, who happened to be celebrating his 8th birthday today. Alongside his parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, Andres was greeted at the gates by none other than Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

The family was brought up to the Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station platform for a special ceremony. There, they had the distinct honor of unveiling Disneyland’s newly updated, iconic town sign, which now proudly reads: “Population: 1,000,000,000.”

To celebrate Disneyland ‘s1 billionth guest, the Robles family was treated to the ultimate VIP experience, including:

  • A dedicated VIP tour guide for the entire day.
  • An exclusive look inside Walt Disney’s private apartment above the Fire Station.
  • Priority access to the newly opened Soarin’ Across America attraction.
  • Multiple custom-tailored experiences around the resort.

Carrying Walt’s Legacy Into the Next Era

A young boy wearing Mickey Mouse ears and a blue Disney family vacation t-shirt smiles widely as he stands between Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse. Minnie, in her red and white polka dot dress, beams with her hands to her face, while Mickey gives a thumbs-up. In front of them, the boy holds a white sign that reads "POPULATION 1,000,000,000" against a brick building backdrop.

This monumental milestone arrives just over 70 years after Walt Disney first opened the gates to Anaheim’s orange groves on July 17, 1955. From its inception, the park was designed to break the mold of traditional amusement spaces. It was handcrafted by talented craftspeople and artisans, as Walt Disney and his Imagineers pioneered what guests around the world now know as the modern-day theme park experience, filled with immersive theming, meticulous storytelling and family-friendly entertainment, ultimately becoming “a place where adults and children can experience together some of the wonders of life, of adventure, and feel better because of it.”

Reflecting on the achievement, Jill Estorino, president, Disneyland Resort, shared her gratitude for the millions of families who have shared their lives with the park:

“Welcoming our one billionth guest is a remarkable milestone for Disneyland Resort and a testament to the generations of guests who have made this special place part of their lives. For more than 70 years, Walt’s original park has been a timeless symbol of Disney storytelling, where memories are made and shared, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward for guests today and for generations to come.”

The Park That Will Never Be Completed

Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck stand alongside two Disney Cast Members and the family. The young boy holds a sign that reads "POPULATION 1,000,000,000" while standing under a large station sign displaying the same 1 billion population milestone.

What started as an impossible dream consisting of a single theme park in the city of Anaheim has grown into a world-class resort destination, encompassing two world-tier theme parks, three resort hotels, and the Downtown Disney District. It has also served as the blueprint and inspiration behind every single Disney park built across the globe.

As the resort looks ahead to welcoming its next billion visitors, it does so by leaning on the exact philosophy that started it all. As Walt once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world”. Through boundless curiosity, groundbreaking technology, limitless creativity, and craftsmanship that exemplifies the Disney difference, the magic is only getting started.
