Does the Café 4 S’mores Cookie live up to the massive internet hype? We review the flavor, texture, and price to see if it’s worth your $6.29.

The internet is many things. It can be a place for heartwarming reunion videos, a storehouse for conspiracy theories, a home for arguing about fictional characters, and, apparently, a deeply passionate advocate for the S’mores Cookie at Café 4 inside Universal’s Islands of Adventure. TikTok declared it. X (formerly Twitter) confirmed it. Even people who are, by their own reputation, professional critics of all things theme park-adjacent looked directly into the camera and said this cookie is the real deal.

We were skeptical. We are always skeptical. Still, a trusted YouTube voice told us we simply had to try it. Not because they thought it was the best cookie ever. They wanted us to see if the hype was real.

So we went to Café 4. We ordered the Cafe 4 S’mores Cookie. So, now we’re here to tell you the truth, the whole truth, with all the objectivity we can muster after being personally betrayed by influencer hype.

A Quick Word About Café 4

If you’ve been following along with our adventures at Universal Orlando, you know we’re no strangers to Café 4. Not long ago, we stopped by to try the Garlic Parm Sliders, a legitimately solid bite. So when the Cafe 4 S’mores Cookie started making the rounds online, it wasn’t like we were walking into a suspicious alley. We had faith in this establishment. So, we grabbed a table, sized up the cookie display, and made our move.

First Impressions of Café 4 S’mores Cookie: The Selection Process

Here’s where we made our first, possibly only, smart decision of the day: we picked the best-looking cookie in the case. We were not simply handed a cookie. We studied it from all angles. After that, we selected our champion.

However, the champion looked… well, it looked like a cookie. A substantial one, to be fair. Golden-ish edges, visible chocolate chips, and marshmallow on the surface. The kind of thing that was clearly made to be photographed. We photographed it. Then we took a bite.

The Play-by-Play Breakdown

The edges: Hard. Noticeably so! Firm enough that we briefly questioned whether they’d been sitting in the case since the Marvel Cinematic Universe was still a fresh concept. Our carefully selected ‘best-looking’ specimen had edges that looked ever so slightly like they’d been kissed by a flame for a few moments too long. Some might call it rustic. We called it overcooked.

The center: To its credit, the center redeemed things somewhat. Soft, yielding, the kind of texture you actually want from a cookie. If the entire cookie had the center’s personality, we might be writing a very different review. Still, the edges had voted, and democracy is a cruel mistress.

The chocolate chips: Plentiful. Absolutely no shortage of chocolate chips, so this gets points for generosity. Flavor-wise, though? Not impressive. They were there and participated. The chips failed to steal the show. They were the background extras of the chocolate chip world.

The marshmallow: The marshmallow is, theoretically, the star of a S’mores cookie. The whole premise depends on it. It added some sweetness and, more critically, helped with the dryness around those well-done edges. Was it full of that toasted, campfire-y, gooey marshmallow flavor we were promised? No. It showed up. It did the minimum. The marshmallow was a background player when it needed to be the headliner.

The messiness: Oh, it was messy. This is a cookie that requires full commitment and at least five napkins. We respect that about it, actually. A cookie that’s afraid to make a mess is a cookie that’s afraid to live.

About That “Best Cookie Ever” Claim

Let’s talk about expectations for a moment, because they matter enormously in theme park dining. When someone rolls up to your content with the energy of ‘this is a 10/10, the best cookie around, possibly the finest baked good in the Western hemisphere’ and then you eat said item, the gap between expectation and reality hits different.

Is the S’mores Cookie at Café 4 a bad cookie? No. Absolutely not. It’s a perfectly acceptable, somewhat enjoyable, slightly inconsistent cookie that costs $6.29 and comes with an annual pass discount. That’s a reasonable thing to exist in the world.

Is it the best cookie around? Friends, no! Not even in the same zip code as that claim. We say this with love for Café 4, with genuine appreciation for the effort, and with zero apologies to the TikTok algorithm.

Café 4 S’mores Cookie: The Cookie Competition Is Not Close

We are not going to sit here and pretend guests cannot find other good cookies at Universal Orlando. We won’t even get deeply into Summer House on the Lake’s cookie situation at Disney Springs. Still, we will note that Summer House’s cookie makes this S’mores Cookie feel like a rough draft. Also, those cookies cost less!

Let us not forget about Gideon’s Bakehouse. We’ve covered Gideon’s. We’ve gone deep on Gideon’s. Also, we reviewed the Blueberry Lemonade Cookie (and many others) and came away changed people. Gideon’s cookies are not playing in the same league. They are not playing the same sport. Gideon’s is out there playing championship-level cookie ball while the S’mores Cookie is still finding its footing. To even mention the Café 4 S’mores Cookie in the same breath as Gideon’s feels like a major error, and we apologize to Gideon (okay, Steve Lewis) himself, spiritually, for entertaining the comparison.

Café 4 S’mores Cookie: Good, Not Great!

We don’t regret trying the Café 4 S’mores Cookie. Trying things is kind of our whole deal. Still, maybe your cookie will be softer on the edges. Maybe the marshmallow will sing for you in a way it didn’t sing for us. Theme park food is inconsistent, the baking gods are fickle, and timing is everything.

However, we went in expecting a transformative 10/10 experience and came out with a 6.5. The edges were hard. The marshmallow underwhelmed. The chocolate chips blended in when they should have stood out. Also, while the soft center gave us a glimmer of what could have been, it wasn’t enough to carry the whole operation. Good cookie? Sure. Best cookie around? Not by a long shot. Save your hype budget, and respect your taste buds. The TikToks were very convincing, though. We’ll give them that.
