We waited 20-25 minutes for the new breakfast spring rolls at the edge of Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. Find out why syrup won us over and whether they are worth $9.79.

Magic Kingdom finally has a grab-and-go breakfast that does not come wrapped in a sad bagel. The Adventureland Spring Roll Cart, home of the cult favorite Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, is now serving Bacon, Egg & Cheese Spring Rolls during breakfast hours, and our food reporters walked away genuinely surprised. Not “pleasantly surprised for theme park food” surprised. Actually surprised.

These arrived at Magic Kingdom early last month. So, we stopped by on a recent Sunday morning to see if a breakfast spring roll could live up to the cart’s reputation. Here is everything you need to know before you get in line.

What Are the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Spring Rolls?

One order is two spring rolls for $9.79 (plus tax). Each one is a crispy, golden-brown pastry shell filled with scrambled eggs, bacon bits, and melted cheese. The cart’s signage says they are served with salsa, and our order came with a cup of Heinz salsa. Guests can also ask for syrup instead, which is where this story takes a turn we did not see coming. By the way, we got two orders, one with salsa and one with syrup.

Where to Find the Spring Roll Cart

The Spring Roll Cart sits at the entrance to Adventureland, just before the bridge, on the right side as you walk in from the hub. It is small, it is colorful, and, more often than not, it has a line in front of it. If you can see the Adventureland sign, you are close.

The cart has a long history of rotating flavors. Over the years it has served everything from Pepperoni Pizza and Buffalo Chicken to Reuben, Cuban and Bacon Mac and Cheese spring rolls. Its roots go back even further, to a Disneyland egg roll cart that once sold a hot dog and cheese egg roll. A breakfast spring roll feels like the natural next chapter.

Breakfast Egg Roll: First Look

Our order arrived in a simple white paper boat: two hefty, golden rolls with a light dusting of seasoning across the wrapper, plus a green lidded cup of Heinz salsa perched on top. The ends are a little darker and crispier than the middle, which is exactly where you want the crunch.

Cut one open, and the filling is almost entirely bright yellow scrambled egg, studded with pieces of bacon and melted cheese, with a soft, creamy layer along the bottom of the wrapper. There are no mystery fillers here.

The red and gold table tent sign at the cart keeps it simple: two spring rolls served with salsa, $9.79, sales tax not included. It also notes that the Spring Roll Cart is a cashless location, so bring a card, Disney Gift Card or mobile payment.

Magic Kingdom Breakfast Egg Roll Taste Test: Salsa or Syrup?

Let’s address the maple-flavored elephant in the room. When we heard syrup was an option, we thought it was an odd combination. Bacon, egg, and cheese in a fried wrapper, dunked in pancake syrup? That sounded like something you dream up at 2 a.m., not something Walt Disney World puts on a menu board.

Then our food reporters tried it and were shocked by how much they enjoyed it. The sweet-and-salty combination works the same way a good McGriddle does: the syrup plays off the bacon and salty cheese, and the crispy shell keeps everything from getting soggy. If you are on the fence, get the syrup. You can always pretend it was your idea.

Salsa is the safer, more traditional pick. It is a medium salsa that adds a bit of spicy kick and acidity. However, we know from chatting with colleague that not everyone is a fan, though. Some called the salsa the one weak spot of breakfast egg roils. Of course, the salsa is easy to skip.

Either way, the rolls offer plenty of cheesy flavor on their own. For anyone who has eaten a breakfast taquito or a frozen breakfast roll before, they taste exactly the way you expect, and that is a compliment.

The Gas Station Comparison We Can’t Unsee

Our food reporters described these as basically Tornados, the rolled snacks from Ruiz Foods that spin on roller grills at gas stations and convenience stores nationwide. If you have ever grabbed one at a fuel stop on I-4 on the way to the parks, you already know the vibe.

The big difference is grease. These spring rolls are far less greasy than their roller grill cousins, and the pastry shell stays crisp instead of turning leathery. So yes, it is a gas station breakfast. It is just a gas station breakfast that went to finishing school in Adventureland.

The Wait for Breakfast Spring Rolls

Here is the catch. We got in line on a Sunday morning; the queue was long, and it took about 20 to 25 minutes to get our breakfast spring rolls. Your mileage will vary. Timing matters even more because the breakfast rolls are only sold until 11:00 a.m. or until they sell out, whichever comes first. The cart is usually open during early entry, which is your best shot at a short line. The regular Cheeseburger and Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls are also available in the morning alongside the breakfast version, so the line includes guests who are jumping the lunch line.

Breakfast Spring Rolls: Are They Worth $9.79?

The price point is still a bit high for the portion size. Two spring rolls is a solid breakfast for one adult, but nearly $10 plus tax for a paper boat of rolls will make some guests wince.

Then again, you are at Magic Kingdom, the most attended theme park in the world, and nothing about a day there is cheap. Magic Kingdom is also not exactly known for top notch food, especially at breakfast, so a quick service item that is actually good is a welcome addition. We would rather spend $9.79 on these than on a lot of other things in the park.

So Long, Sad Breakfast Sandwich

The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Spring Rolls replaced the cart’s Breakfast Bagel Sandwich, which cost $7.50 ($7.25 when this photo was taken). Those below-average breakfast sandwiches are common across Walt Disney World properties, and this location is better off without one. Swapping it for a breakfast item that actually matches what the cart is famous for just makes sense.

Breakfast Spring Roll at Magic Kingdom: A Nice Addition

We came for a novelty and left as converts. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Spring Rolls are crispy, cheesy, packed with egg and far less greasy than the gas station rolls they resemble. Get the syrup, get there early and accept that $9.79 is the Magic Kingdom tax on a good breakfast. In a park that has never been a breakfast destination, this is one of the easiest recommendations we can make.
