The wait is finally over for fans of percussive comedy and neon-splattered spectacle. After a multi-year hiatus, Blue Man Group Orlando has officially announced it will debut its brand-new resident production at ICON Park on May 1, 2026.

The world-renowned trio, owned by Cirque du Soleil, is returning to the heart of the International Drive tourist corridor with a show that promises to be more immersive than ever. Tickets for the highly anticipated return will go on sale beginning Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET.

Blue Man Group Orlando: A Custom-Built Home for the Blues

Unlike their previous 14-year tenure at Universal Orlando Resort, this move marks a historic milestone: the group’s first-ever theater built from the ground up. Located at the Universal Boulevard entrance of ICON Park, the new 10,000-square-foot, 500-seat venue has been custom-designed to maximize the group’s multi-sensory performances.

According to Jack Kenn, managing director of Blue Man Group:

“There is no greater world stage than Orlando for exciting family fun, making it a natural choice as a home base for Blue Man Group. Our fans are eager for the Blue Men to be part of their Orlando vacations, and our creative team is thrilled to create a new type of experience that is even more immersive and personalized to Orlando.”

What to Expect: New Tech, Classic Mess

While the show will feature the signature non-verbal humor and PVC-pipe percussion fans love, the 2026 residency is being billed as a “new type of experience.” Guests can expect:

  • Upgraded Technology: State-of-the-art acoustics, lighting, and video integrated into the theater’s DNA.
  • Exclusive Content: New scenes and remastered instruments that can only be seen at the Orlando location.
  • The Poncho Section: Yes, the front rows will still need to suit up! The “Poncho Section” remains a staple for those who want to be closest to the splattering paint and rhythmic chaos.

Blue Man Group Orlando: Short History

The history of Blue Man Group in Orlando spans nearly two decades, marked by a long-standing residency at Universal Orlando Resort and a highly anticipated return to ICON Park.

The Universal Orlando Era (2007–2021)

For 14 years, the Blue Man Group was a staple of Orlando’s entertainment landscape.

  • Launch: The residency officially opened on June 6, 2007, at Universal CityWalk. The show was housed in a custom-built, 1,000-seat venue known as the Blue Man Group Theatre (originally the Sharp AQUOS Theatre).
  • Location History: The theater was located in Soundstage 18, which famously served as the former home of Nickelodeon Studios.
  • Show Evolution: In 2012, the production underwent a significant “refresh,” introducing new segments like the “GiPad” (a giant tablet parody) and a high-energy “Booty Shaker” finale, while keeping classic acts like the paint drumming.
  • Closure: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, performances were halted in March 2020. On February 1, 2021, it was officially announced that the residency would not return to Universal, ending a run of over 6,000 performances.

The New Chapter: ICON Park (2024–Present)

After a three-year hiatus, the group announced a permanent return to Orlando in a new location.

  • Return Announcement: In June 2024, the group revealed they would be moving to ICON Park on International Drive.
  • New Venue: A brand-new, 500-seat custom theater was constructed specifically for the group, located near the base of the Orlando Eye. This venue is designed to be more intimate and technologically advanced than the previous one.
  • Current Status: After some construction delays, the official debut of the new Orlando show is scheduled for May 1, 2026.

Planning Your Visit

The show is approximately 90 to 105 minutes long with no intermission, making it a perfect evening addition to an ICON Park itinerary. With the Orlando Eye as a backdrop and dozens of restaurants nearby, the “Blue Carpet” rollout is set to make Blue Man Group Orlando the anchor of I-Drive nightlife once again.
