Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) starts August 29 at Universal Studios Florida. Rumors of Jason Voorhees, of “Friday the 13th” fame, coming to HHN are growing.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida starts August 29. It runs on select evenings, mostly Wednesdays through Sundays, through November 2, 2025. This marks the 34th year that the event has occurred at Universal Studios Florida.

Rumors about the themes of each year’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) houses begin almost as soon as the previous year’s event ends. The speculation season has been all over the place this year.

This year, HHN fans keep hearing rumors about a “Legacy of Jason Voorhees” house for 2025. Experienced Halloween Horror Nights fans will notice this is not a “Friday the 13th” house. The rights involving that movie franchise are murky to say the least. Some people own parts of it, while others control the rights to adult Jason Voorhees.

Jason Voorhees at Halloween Horror Nights

Halloween Horror Nights

Jaason Voorheese has made appearances at Halloween Horror Nights before. Still, that was before the complicated current situation with “Friday the 13th” rights.

Though the process of bringing Jason Voorhees to HHN look improbable, some solid reasons lean towards the possibility. For example, Peacock’s streaming service, part of NBCUniversal, has the rights to create a prequel to the movies. That streaming offering will be “Crystal Lake.” That streaming show was initially supposed to come out in 2024. However, it looks like the hope of a “Friday the 13th” prequel has not died.

Crystal Lake on Peacock

According to Variety,  Linda Cardellini is set for the lead role in the “Friday the 13th” prequel series on Peacock. Peacock is the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, which also owns the Universal theme parks.

Cardellini will star as Pamela Voorhees in the expanded prequel series titled “Crystal Lake.” Fans of the “Friday the 13th” franchise know that Pamela Voorhees was the mother of Jason Voorhees. In the original film, Jason is a child who drowns at Camp Crystal Lake. His death leads his mother, Pamela, to seek revenge against the counselors she blames for her son’s death. The iconic hockey mask does not play a role until after the first movie. He did not become the main antagonist until the second movie.

With Peacock doing that series, the chances of promoting Jason Voorhees at Halloween Horror Nights made sense. Even though this prequel is in the works, Halloween Horror Nights probably cannot get the direct rights to use” Friday the 13th” at their event. However, they can work around it to get that iconic slasher by calling the house: Legacy of Jason Voorhees.

However, social media accounts specializing in HHN rumors started pointing us towards Jason Voorhees. For example, Jacob of Carey predicted this house on social media with a speculation map.

On March 26, Hallowed Out Horror posted a photo of the iconic hockey mask on social media.

Mash-Up House with Jason Voorhees?

Nevertheless, the king of Halloween Horror Nights speculation, Horror Night Nightmares, has not spoken up about this Jason Voorhees rumor. If Horror Night Nightmare even hinted at Jason Voorhees coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2025, it might be on its speculation map with a film reel image symbol with what might be blood dripping down.

HHN

Could the HHN rumors of Jason Voorhees and Ghostface of “Scream” coming to HHN 2025 be a mash-up house? Could this be a return of something like an “All Nite Die-In” HHN House? At this point, we will need to wait for the Halloween Horror Nights house announcements to start.
