With all due respect to Katy Perry’s hit single, we ordered a kids’ meal, and I liked it. To make this theme park dining review even more improbable, we ordered the kids’ meal at a water park.

Yes, we ordered a kids’ meal at a water park. In fact, we do this often at water parks and theme parks. It lets us try a menu item without ordering the full-size adult portion, saving valuable stomach room to taste other food.

Sure, we sometimes get strange looks or comments about being on a diet when ordering kids’ meals. I mean, seriously…have you seen us? Clearly, we are not on a healthy diet!

Surfside Cafe at Adventure Island Tampa, Florida

Adventure Island in Tampa, Florida, offers some dining experiences that complement a day of water-slide thrills and wave-pool relaxation. The park’s main culinary hub is Surfside Café. While we would choose Mango Joe’s Beach Café as a better dining option at Adventure Island, Surfside Café remains open for your entire water park day. Designed for hungry parkgoers looking to refuel between plunges, the quick-service dining venue at Adventure Island serves up a standard lineup of burgers, chicken tenders, and fries.

Turkey Wrap at Surfside Cafe: Is This Really a Kids Meal?

The Surfside Cafe menu is often a challenge to read for a variety of reasons. During a recent visit, we took a closer look and noticed the kids’ meals. Since we have eaten every adult menu item at Surfside Cafe, we decided to downsize for lunch. The two choices were chicken nuggets and a turkey wrap. Yes, a turkey wrap on the kids’ menu. Were our eyes deceiving us? Nope!

What Comes With the Turkey Wrap Kids Meal?

The Turkey Wrap Kids’ Meal comes with fries. It costs $10.79 and comes with fries. The wrap comes surrounded by paper. Once you save the food from the paper, you see some turkey, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheese.

Shredded Cheese Vs. Standard United Parks Sliced Cheese

The shredded cheese arrives as an interesting choice. However, we appreciated it since the standard sliced cheese served at United Parks qualifies as bland. Cheese dominates the turkey, but it’s nice to have flavorful cheese at this park, unlike the cheese slices on the burgers and other sandwiches. Lettuce and cheese make an interesting texture combination since both are shredded. Nonetheless, most guests will appreciate this.

The turkey is decent theme park quality, but what would we expect? We ordered a kids’ meal…and we liked it! Overall, the value is there, and the flavor exceeded our expectations. Compared to wrap entrees we have ordered at Voyager’s Smokehouse (SeaWorld Orlando) and Zambia Smokehouse (Busch Gardens Tampa Bay), this one tasted equal to or better. Of note, we are comparing this to the adult versions at those parks, which offer comparable portion size, fruit instead of fries, and cost seven dollars more.

Is the Turkey Wrap Kids Meal Actually a Good Value?

Yes, we got a similar portion size to an adult meal. This could be shared between two kids since the wrap comes cut in half. Additionally, the fries portion is easily shareable. Sure, the fries lack a robust flavor. Still, the portion size makes up for it. Kids having this meal may only use the fries as a vehicle to get more ketchup anyway.

Speaking of ketchup, a condiment station is nearby with sauce packets to add to this wrap. This allows guests to adjust the Turkey Wrap as needed. We ate it without adding any condiments…and we liked it. As a bonus, the Turkey Wrap offers more nutrition than many theme park entrees. Well, except for the fries, of course…

Kids may struggle with the wrap/tortilla, wanting a more standard bun or bread. Still, it works fine. Based on our experience, the wrap design with shredded cheese and lettuce can lead to some potential messes. Of course, this depends on the kid (or adult) eating this.

We ordered a kids’ meal…and we liked it! Adventure Island will be open only on Fridays through Sundays this year, through the end of October. So, if you want to try the Turkey Wrap Kids Meal in 2026, you need to hurry. Of course, it will come back in March 2027 when Adventure Island opens for the season.
