Tripleta Sandwich Review: Howl-O-Scream Orlando’s Best Kept Secret?

Published by Jon Self on

We review the Tripleta Sandwich at Howl-O-Scream Orlando, an event-exclusive bite found at Mercado de los Muertos (#15) at SeaWorld.

Howl-O-Scream Orlando is back at SeaWorld, and while everyone is talking about Pestilence, this year’s new icon, and the debut of I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch. Of course, we made a beeline for the food. We wanted to try a sandwich from the Taste the Terror menu, the Tripleta Sandwich.

Where to Find the Tripleta Sandwich

The Tripleta Sandwich lives at Mercado de los Muertos, the marketplace location numbered #15 on the Howl-O-Scream Orlando event map. Mercado de los Muertos leans into a Day of the Dead aesthetic and, according to our full Taste the Terror menu breakdown, it continues to be one of the stronger savory stops at the entire event, also serving up an Elote Dip, Beef Birria Ramen, and a White Chocolate Skull dessert filled with raspberry jam.

Heads up: the Tripleta Sandwich is a Howl-O-Scream exclusive. It is only available during Howl-O-Scream Orlando event nights and will not show up on SeaWorld’s daytime dining menus. If you want to try it, you need a ticket to the event itself, running select nights from September 11 through October 31, 2026.

What’s on the Tripleta Sandwich

SeaWorld Orlando builds the Tripleta Sandwich on a hoagie roll and loads it up with:

  • Ham
  • Roast beef
  • Cheese
  • Pico de gallo
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Garlic aioli

It is a riff on the classic Puerto Rican tripleta, which traditionally stacks three meats between crusty bread. SeaWorld’s version keeps it a little simpler with ham and roast beef, but the garlic aioli and pico de gallo should give it enough brightness that it does not feel like just another cold cut sub, right?

Well, not exactly! The Tripleta Sandwich at Howl-O-Scream Orlando highlights major operational and quality issues. Despite a rainy evening and an empty queue, service was surprisingly slow. The food itself fell short of expectations.

It featured a small portion size relative to the price. The cheese lacks flavor. Also, we are still looking for the pico de gallo component. The only above-average quality we experienced was a pleasant sauce. Nonetheless, we did find the flavor experience to be fine. Was it bad? No! Was it good? Sort of. It is just not what guests will expect for $14.99, if not using a pre-paid Howl-O-Scream Orlando lanyard.

Is the Tripleta Sandwich at Howl-O-Scream Orlando Worth Getting?

Between the haunted houses, the scare zones chasing Pestilence’s rise to power, and the new I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch house, it is easy to treat Howl-O-Scream Orlando food as an afterthought. The Tripleta Sandwich is a good reminder not to. It is a satisfying sandwich that will be a nice snack between houses. Will it change your culinary life? Of course not! However, Howl-O-Scream Orlando offers some scary food (take that as you will) so this marks a break from that.
