The 2026 season keeps Rave Yard around for a second year while surrounding it with four fresh storylines, giving fans plenty to compare against last year’s lineup.
For first-time visitors, Howl-O-Scream Orlando differs from other Central Florida Halloween events by leaning heavily into adult-focused scares and atmosphere. There are roaming creatures outside the houses, bars serving specialty cocktails, and plenty of “in-your-face” scares that don’t let up once you leave a haunted house. It’s a full-night experience where no corner of the park feels safe.

SeaWorld Orlando invited us out for a night of Howl-O-Scream Orlando on Saturday, September 12, the night after the event’s public opening. This marks the sixth year the event has taken place at SeaWorld Orlando. After the opening-year jitters, Howl-O-Scream Orlando has become a solid and less crowded respectable spooky-season event that we look forward to attending each year.
We already knew from the park’s own tease that Rave Yard is back for a second run. So, the big question heading into the night was whether the extra year in the ground fixed what didn’t work in 2025. How would it compared to the four new houses for this year?
Havoc and Pestilence Lead the Howl-O-Scream Orlando Terror
This year’s event is led by Havoc, the icon introduced in 2025, who now has a rival. At an August “Scream & Sweat” media event, SeaWorld unveiled Pestilence, Havoc’s scorned ex-partner, as the newest face of the event, confronting Havoc on stage and setting the tone for a season built around the two of them squaring off. Expect both characters to show up across scare zones and opening-night entertainment.
Beyond the houses, the 2026 event offers six scare zones, five themed bars, and two live shows. New street-level zones include Nekrosis, a 1990s seaside town frozen at the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2000; Just One More Chapter, a dark-romance-inspired garden of cursed literature; and Extermination Order, a bug-infested quarantine zone. Returning zones Woodrot Hollow and Trailer Park Tragedy round out the street scares. With five houses to conquer, live entertainment to enjoy, and specialty food and drinks to sample, there is no shortage of ways to spend an entire night at SeaWorld Orlando’s signature Halloween event.

House ranking can be subjective, and as always, we’ve tried to consider what most guests will think about each house, not necessarily what we personally think. In fairness, our own tastes don’t always line up with the majority opinion regarding horror season. For example, that’s especially true for a house built around a party atmosphere rather than pure scares.
5. Rave Yard
Rave Yard returns for a second year, and going into Saturday night, we’re bracing ourselves for déjà vu. The concept is still clever on paper: a play on “graveyard” that reimagines a cemetery as an eternal rave for the undead, all neon light and bass over crumbling tombstones. It was a fun idea we ranked dead last in our 2025 house rankings, where we flagged an unfinished-looking neon aesthetic and an outdoor footprint near the festival grounds that limited the buildup and left the house exposed to Florida’s evening rain.
The park itself seems aware that last year fell short. In the Pestilence icon reveal, we noted that Rave Yard is back for 2026 and said outright that we hope for a better version this year. A second season in the same location should, in theory, mean more preparation time and a chance to tighten up the parts that felt half-finished. That’s the charitable read.
Are We Just Too Old to be Doing the Howl-O-Scream Orlando House Rankings?
We also want to be honest about our own bias here. Rave Yard is built as a party house first and a scare house second, and it’s entirely possible our group is simply too old for the demographic this house is chasing. A twenty-something crowd looking to dance through a graveyard rave may walk away from this house feeling very differently than we did. We went into Saturday with that in mind. However, our concerns from last year are still valid! Also, these thoughts were common among spooky season veterans we talked with.
This house still does not match the level of the other Howl-O-Scream Orlando houses. The location hinders it. The overall concept is caught between campy and scary, which isn’t a great place to be. While this house is better for 2026, it still faces too many challenges for most guests to embrace it as a beloved Howl-O-Scream Orlando attraction. For those looking to “rave” at Howl-O-Scream Orlando 2026, we suggest the bars and scare zones.
4. Dark Net
At this point, the next three houses are basically the same quality level. Still, Dark Net presents guests with just a little bit less than the top three in our Howl-O-Scream Orlando house rankings
One of the four new houses for 2026, Dark Net drops guests into a cyberpunk metropolis pushed to the brink by a global energy crisis, where desperate cyborgs have turned to vampirism as a new power source. The pitch, a crumbling, neon-lit underworld where black oil and fresh plasma drip side by side and guests can no longer tell machine from monster, is one of the more original concepts SeaWorld Orlando has attempted for this event.
This one offered a unique storyline with a bit of social commentary. The set design works well for this Howl-O-Scream Orlando house. Still, in places, the set design fails based on how quickly this house was constructed for 2026.
Some excellent scares happen as you progress. The blend of tech and dystopian ideas makes this a compelling house. However, it isn’t enough to rank higher than the other new houses. True, some guests will prefer this house over the next three. Either way, you can get a drink at the bar right after going through this house.
3. Crawlspace
Rather than a typical ghost story or slasher setting, Crawlspace leans into sci-fi horror and biological containment failure. Guests descend into sealed, forgotten tunnels beneath the city, where a catastrophic secret has been left to grow in the dark. The emphasis on winding, claustrophobic corridors suggests a disorienting walkthrough where a scare could come from any tight turn or from directly overhead.
This house was the classic “fine.” Yes, it was “fine” like when your partner says they are fine and you have to figure out what that means. For those who have to do that, you know it can be a challenge.
Crawlspace presents a great concept. However, it doesn’t feel fully worked out. Sure, that is common with haunted houses. Yet, in this case, the storyline does not have time to develop since the house felt shorter than others.
You want a dark house. This one will give you that. Still, based on the premise, guests are seeing similar looking walls almost the entire time.
Despite that, the scare actors did a great job. The house layout provides several ways for scares to happen. Sure, we would like more variety in the house interior. Still, we enjoyed this house overall. Those who love jump scares will find this house to be wonderful. The ending will be a positive for most guests. Not to spoil too much…the slugs are a great addition to this house. Those might be the sole reason this house ranks over Dark Net.
2. Everything Must Stay
The first new house SeaWorld Orlando revealed for 2026, Everything Must Stay is a paranormal walkthrough set inside a suburban home that has sat unsold for six years, with every open house ending the same way: terrified buyers fleeing something they can’t explain. Living dolls inside the house are said to demand that everything, and everyone, stays put. It’s a strong, easy-to-follow premise, and the suburban open-house setting gives the design team a reason to fill nearly every room with a different scare.
We went into this event fairly hyped for this concept. It did not let us down! If you avoid dolls because you find them creepy, this could be your scary house. This house may lack the traditional jump scares compared to the other Howl-O-Scream houses. Nonetheless, it offers one of the best and cutest scares in any haunted house. The scare actors do a good job keeping the narrative going. Just remember…everything must stay…the fuzzy, cuddly dolls will see to that!
1. I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch (Top Spot in Our Howl-O-Scream Orlando House Rankings)
Our early pick for the top spot was I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch, SeaWorld Orlando’s first-ever movie-inspired haunted house and the marquee addition of the entire 2026 lineup. Licensed from Sony Pictures, the house transports guests to the seaside town of Southport to relive the Fisherman’s massacre from the 1997 film, with the hook-wielding killer stalking guests through recreations of the movie’s most memorable scenes. We enjoyed the Sony IP Anaconda house at Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream. So, we expected the same level of quality…and we got it! In fact, we may have gotten more!
As the only IP house in the lineup, and the first the park has ever attempted, this house is carrying a lot of expectation into opening weekend, and we’d expect it to draw the longest lines of the night by default. Also, since the most expensive Front Line Fear pass entitles guests to only a one-time shorter-queue entry into this house, like Anaconda at Busch Gardens, this will be a hot ticket.
Is I Know What You Did Last Summer a True Headliner? We Think So!
We went in expecting a headliner, but we’ve been burned by IP hype before elsewhere. As the only IP house in the lineup, and the first the park has ever attempted, this house is a genuine step up for Howl-O-Scream Orlando. It earns the hype. The team leaned hard on the source material rather than just borrowing the killer’s silhouette for a generic slasher maze, and it shows. Familiar cues from the film (the slicker, fog horn, music, rain hitting the dock, and the Fisherman’s hook dragging along metal) are woven into the soundscape so precisely that longtime fans of the movie will recognize a beat before they see it coming.
Paired with recreations of the film’s scenes, the house does a rare thing for an IP maze: it feels like a tiny love letter to the source material rather than a cash grab riding on name recognition alone. Watching the movie before you attend would be helpful!
The scares back up the atmosphere, too. Most scare actors appeared to be embracing their roles. Be advised that behind any white sheet could be The Fisherman! Yes, he got us a few times during out visit.
This isn’t a house that leans on one or two big jump moments and coasts through the rest on set dressing. The scare actors are stationed consistently from the first room to the last, and the pacing rarely lets guests catch their breath before the next hit. Combined with the film-accurate sound design, it’s the kind of house that rewards a second walkthrough, since there’s a good chance you’ll miss a scare or a detail the first time through. It’s an easy call for the top of this list, and it single-handedly raises the bar for what a licensed house at this event can be. Remember, he still knows what you did last summer!

If you are okay waiting, then save this house until the sun goes down since some effects in this house work better in the dark.
- Save Rave Yard for Later: Since Rave Yard leans more toward a “fun” house than a terrifying one, it’s a reasonable pick for later in the evening when lines for the newer houses grow longer.
- Don’t Skip the Bars and Scare Zones: Take time to explore Nekrosis, Just One More Chapter, and Extermination Order, and grab a specialty cocktail along the way.
