Zagora Cafe Busch Gardens improves with new kiosks, faster service, and an updated menu. See what changed and why we’re apologizing.

Dear readers, snack warriors, and those who once aged several years in line with us…We are writing today to formally apologize to Zagora Cafe at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Yes. “That” Zagora Cafe. The one we have roasted more times than their chicken tenders. However, somehow, against logic, history, and, frankly, our own trust issues, they fixed it!
A Brief (and Petty) History of Our Complaints

Zagora Cafe Busch Gardens has long been a quick-service restaurant in the Morocco section of the park, offering a mix of American staples with a Mediterranean influence that always sounded better on paper than it played out in reality. Guests dine in a large, shaded outdoor seating area. While the atmosphere is lively, diners should be mindful of local birds that are known to scavenge for fries and sometimes your burger…Trust us!
In theory, it should have been a reliable stop for a quick and satisfying meal. In practice, however, it became known, at least in our coverage, for late openings, painfully slow service, and lines that felt longer than some of the park’s headline attractions. We’ve documented these experiences multiple times, and none of those critiques were exaggerated. At the time, they were entirely earned.
The Redemption Arc: Kiosks That Actually Work?!

On our most recent visit, we approached Zagora Cafe with the same cautious skepticism we’ve developed over time. We knew a long-needed refurbishment started months ago. Instead of the usual confusion, we found a noticeably more organized operation. The biggest change is the addition of more than ten mobile order kiosks, which now serve as the backbone of the ordering system. Unlike past tech rollouts in the park, these kiosks are not just for show. They are fast, responsive, and genuinely useful.
Even more surprising is how well they integrate with the park’s existing systems. The kiosks successfully scan All-Day Dining Plan wristbands and apply passholder discounts without requiring assistance from a Busch Gardens ambassador. Orders process smoothly, and the entire experience feels streamlined in a way that simply didn’t exist here before. It’s the kind of functional upgrade that directly addresses nearly every complaint we’ve had.
In fairness, the tech team has not solve the double dining discount reward that some Busch Gardens Tampa Bay annual pass members get. However, that is minor issue that should not negate from this massive improvement.
The Moment That Broke Us: It Opened ON TIME!

We cannot stress this enough: Zagora Cafe opened on time. For longtime readers, that sentence carries weight. There were no delays, no uncertain crowd gathering outside, and no need to check back later in the day. The location was simply open and ready to serve guests as expected. It’s a small operational detail that makes a massive difference, and it immediately set the tone for the rest of the experience.

So… What Changed?

From what we observed, this updated system has been in place for about a week or so, which suggests this is not a temporary test but a new standard operating procedure. The shift toward kiosk-based ordering reduces reliance on a single traditional queue and allows guests to move at their own pace. Combined with improved system integration, the result is a noticeably more efficient and predictable experience from start to finish.
In fairness, we have not enjoyed using these kiosks at other Busch Gardens Tampa Bay dining locations, as they rolled out. However, our experience with the ones at Zagora Cafe during our recent visit was far better.
A Formal Apology to Zagora Cafe Busch Gardens (We Can’t Believe It Either)

Zagora Cafe, we owe you one. We’ve spent a significant amount of time calling out the issues at this location, and those critiques were justified based on what guests experienced in the past. However, the improvements now in place, ranging from reliable opening times to a fully functional kiosk system, represent a meaningful turnaround. The operation feels smoother, more modern, and far less frustrating than before.
We’re not quite ready to declare it the best quick-service location in the park, but it is no longer the cautionary tale it once was. That alone is a major step forward, and one we didn’t expect to be writing about anytime soon. Additionally, based on some downgrades we saw at two other Busch Gardens Tampa Bay quick-service restaurants, Zagora Cafe might be moving up the rankings!
