The space race has officially arrived at Legoland Florida Resort. During a recent Sunday afternoon visit, we had the chance to explore the park’s new LEGO Galaxy area and experience the brand-new Galacticoaster, the park’s first indoor roller coaster. After spending time in the land and taking a ride ourselves, it’s clear this new attraction is a meaningful step forward for the family-focused theme park. With a short wait time, an immersive pre-show, and a surprisingly fun ride experience, the new coaster delivers exactly what Legoland Florida needed: a weather-proof, family-friendly thrill ride that expands the park’s lineup in a big way.

Legoland Florida Galacticoaster: A Much-Needed Indoor Attraction for Legoland Florida

For years, one of the biggest limitations of Legoland Florida has been the lack of indoor attractions. Florida weather can be unpredictable, with intense heat, afternoon storms, and occasional cold snaps. An indoor coaster not only solves some of those problems but also adds a new level of excitement to the park’s ride lineup. Galacticoaster officially opened February 27, 2026, becoming the first indoor roller coaster added to the park since it debuted in 2011.

The attraction anchors the LEGO Galaxy area and introduces guests to a high-energy space-themed mission inspired by classic LEGO space sets and futuristic storytelling. Riders board their own spacecraft and launch through a glowing galaxy filled with lighting effects, LEGO models, and animated elements.

While Legoland Florida is known for its family rides, this coaster adds a new level of energy without crossing into intense thrill territory. It’s clearly designed for families and younger riders, particularly those graduating from smaller rides like Dragon or Coastersaurus.

Visiting on a Sunday Afternoon

We visited the park on a Sunday afternoon, expecting the new coaster to have one of the longest waits in the park. Surprisingly, the line moved quickly and the actual wait time was around 15 minutes.

For a brand-new ride at Legoland Florida, that’s an excellent wait time. The queue itself is part of the attraction experience. Guests begin their mission inside the Briefing Room, where a robotic LEGO minifigure named Chief Engineer Biff Dipper introduces the intergalactic adventure with a mix of humor and storytelling.

From there, riders enter a Customization Bay, where interactive touchscreens allow them to design their own LEGO spacecraft. Guests can choose the nose, tail, wings, and special features of their vehicle, resulting in more than 625 possible spacecraft combinations. This step is quick but surprisingly fun, especially for kids who enjoy the creativity that LEGO encourages. Once your design is complete, it’s stored on an RFID wristband and later appears during the ride itself.

Once the pre-show and customization process are complete, riders board sleek LEGO spacecraft vehicles and prepare for launch. The coaster reaches speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, which is fast enough to feel exciting while remaining accessible for younger riders.

The ride itself is relatively short, about one minute and thirty seconds of coaster time, but the full experience from pre-show to exit lasts around ten minutes. During the ride, guests blast through a LEGO-themed galaxy filled with bright lighting effects, projections, and classic LEGO Space references. The coaster twists and turns through the dark ride building while your custom spacecraft appears digitally during the journey. While the ride doesn’t feature major drops or inversions, it delivers several quick directional changes and moments of speed that feel thrilling for younger riders experiencing their first indoor coaster.

After boarding our spacecraft and pulling down the restraints, the launch sequence began after a brief delay. The ride starts with a burst of speed that catches you off guard in the best way. From there, the coaster dives into a series of twists and turns through colorful cosmic environments.

One of the highlights is the combination of coaster movement with dark-ride style theming. Instead of simply racing through a dark building, riders pass glowing planets, LEGO spacecraft, and bursts of lighting effects that make the experience feel like a space adventure. The ride is smooth, energetic, and just intense enough to get a laugh or scream from younger riders without being overwhelming.

Is it the longest ride in the world? Definitely not. Still, it’s incredibly fun for what it is.

The LEGO Galaxy Area

Legoland Florida Galacticoaster

While Galacticoaster is the main draw, the surrounding LEGO Galaxy area adds to the overall experience.

The space-themed section includes:

  • LEGO space models and decorations
  • Interactive play elements
  • A Junior Astronaut Training Zone for younger guests
  • A retail shop called Orbital Outpost
  • Themed food locations nearby

These additions create a small but cohesive land that fits perfectly with Legoland’s overall design philosophy: rides combined with creativity and interactive play. The space theme also taps into decades of LEGO nostalgia. From classic LEGO Space references to newer space-inspired sets, fans of all ages will notice subtle details scattered throughout the area.

Perfect for Families and Younger Thrill Seekers

One of the most impressive things about Galacticoaster is how well it fits the Legoland audience. The ride has a minimum height requirement of 36 inches with an adult or 48 inches to ride alone, making it accessible to a wide range of families. That accessibility matters because Legoland Florida is primarily designed for children ages 2 to 12.

For kids who are ready to move beyond gentle rides but aren’t quite ready for larger coasters at parks like Busch Gardens or Universal Orlando, Legoland Florida Galacticoaster serves as a perfect stepping stone. It’s fast enough to feel thrilling but controlled enough to remain family-friendly.

A Big Win for Legoland Florida

Legoland Florida Galacticoaster

In many ways, Legoland Florida Galacticoaster represents an important step forward for Legoland Florida. The park has always excelled at themed environments and creative attractions, but it hasn’t always offered rides that feel like must-do experiences.

Galacticoaster changes that.

The attraction combines several elements that modern theme parks rely on:

  • Immersive storytelling
  • Interactive queue elements
  • Personalized ride experiences
  • Indoor, all-weather operation
  • Family-friendly thrills

All of those elements work together to create a ride that stands out in the park’s lineup.

Legoland Florida Galacticoaster

After riding Legoland Florida Galacticoaster and spending time in the LEGO Galaxy area, the verdict is clear: this is a fantastic addition to Legoland Florida. Our visit on a Sunday afternoon with a 15-minute wait made the experience even better, but even with longer lines the ride would still be worth it.

The combination of customization, storytelling, and a fun indoor coaster makes Galacticoaster one of the most exciting attractions currently operating at the park. It may not compete with the massive roller coasters at larger Florida theme parks, but it doesn’t need to. Instead, it does exactly what Legoland Florida needed—deliver a family coaster that feels modern, immersive, and fun for guests of all ages.

Still, if this attraction is any indication of where the park is headed next, the future of Legoland Florida looks pretty stellar. For more information about Legoland Florida Resort and Galacticoasters, please visit the official Legoland Florida website.
