At Epcot, Basque Cheesecake Food & Wine steals the show (sort of). The Spain Global Marketplace offers a light and creamy treat with just enough orange sauce.

The Spain Outdoor Kitchen at the 2025 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival may not have won us over with its savory options, but one dessert turned the booth around. The Basque Cheesecake stood out as the star of the menu.

What Makes It a Basque Cheesecake?

For most residents of the United States of America, we have certain thoughts and ideas about cheesecake. However, unlike traditional cheesecakes that are dense and heavy, a Basque cheesecake is baked at a higher temperature, which caramelizes the outside while leaving the inside light and creamy. Its signature look comes from its slightly burnt rustic top, not a flaw but a feature. That contrast of texture and flavor makes it unique. Walt Disney World’s version at the Spain booth at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival does a solid job recreating it.

At five dollars and twenty-five cents, this Basque Cheesecake Food & Wine dessert is one of the better values of the entire festival. For context, desserts at other theme park food events, such as SeaWorld Orlando’s festival, Busch Gardens Tampa’s festivals, or offerings at Universal Orlando, tend to run higher for equal or smaller portions. That makes the cheesecake here feel like a relative bargain. Additionally, this is part of Emile’s Fromage Montage.

Our group thought Spain’s savory dishes were a miss this year but the Basque Cheesecake came to the rescue. Light and airy in texture it had just the right amount of sweetness. The orange sauce drizzled over top added a refreshing citrus note without overwhelming the cheesecake itself. It’s a thoughtful pairing that balances richness with brightness.

While Spain’s savory dishes fell short, the Basque Cheesecake saved the booth from being forgettable. Although it might not be the festival’s standout dessert, given the competition from other World Showcase booths, it was easily the highlight of this menu and one of the more wallet-friendly indulgences at Epcot Food and Wine 2025. If you find yourself in World Showcase and want something sweet but not overly heavy, make your way to the Spain Outdoor Kitchen and let the Basque Cheesecake be your pick.
