Wawa Day 2026 brings free coffee for rewards members on April 16, plus $200M in giving and anniversary celebrations across all locations.

Wawa Day 2026

If you needed a reason to swing by Wawa this week (as if you ever do), here it is: free coffee! The convenience chain has officially announced plans for Wawa Day 2026, celebrating its 62nd anniversary with a nationwide giveaway and a series of feel-good milestones that stretch from local communities all the way to America’s 250th birthday.

Wawa Day 2026: Free Coffee for Rewards Members on April 16

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 16, because Wawa Rewards Members can grab one free, any-size hot coffee at all 1,200 locations. Whether you’re fueling up before rope drop at a Central Florida theme park or just surviving your morning commute, the deal is simple. Guests will open the Wawa app and redeem their bonus reward on April 16. After that, they will walk out caffeinated and victorious. You get free coffee days bonus points 9from us, not Wawa, sorry) if you try the limited-time banana bread coffee.

Look Back: From 1964 to Now

Wawa’s story began on April 16, 1964, when the company opened its first store in Folsom, Pennsylvania. What started as a small food market has grown into a popular chain spanning 13 states and Washington, D.C.

Special Event in Pennsylvania

The flagship celebration will take place at a Wawa store in Ridley Township, Delaware County, featuring:

  • A ceremonial coffee toast (arguably the most on-brand ceremony ever)
  • Recognition of standout employee and customer moments
  • The unveiling of a commemorative bell tied to Pennsylvania’s role in America’s 250th anniversary

It’s all part of a larger statewide tribute leading up to the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.

Wawa Day 2026: 200 Million in Giving (and Counting)

Free Coffee

“Each year, Wawa Day presents a special opportunity to express our gratitude to the people and partners across our flock and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling lives, every day,” said Brian Schaller, Wawa President. “As we gear up to celebrate our nation’s semiquincentennial, we’re proud to highlight our own 200-plus years in American business – from our founding family’s roots in business to our first Food Market and to our role today serving our friends and neighbors in 13 states (and D.C.). On April 16, we celebrate and thank our associates and community partners and invite our Wawa Rewards Members to have a cup of coffee on us. Cheers and thank you for 62 years!”

Wawa Day isn’t just about caffeine. There is a great deal of charity work involved. Through The Wawa Foundation, the company is celebrating a major milestone: $200 million in charitable giving since 2014

To mark the occasion, Wawa is distributing $250,000 in gift cards to national nonprofit partners, including:

  • American Red Cross
  • Feeding America
  • Special Olympics
  • USO
  • Several others supporting health, hunger relief, and community programs

Why This Matters (Especially in Florida)

For those of us near major theme park hubs like Walt Disney World and beyond, Wawa has become a go-to pit stop for affordable eats, quick fuel, and pretty good coffee for a gas station. So, free coffee day should be a part of your pre-park ritual on April 16.

Between free coffee, historic milestones, and major charitable giving, Wawa Day 2026 is shaping up to be a full-on celebration of community, convenience, and caffeine. So if you’re out and about on April 16, do yourself a favor: stop by Wawa, grab your free cup, and toast to 62 years of keeping us all running.
