Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Hollywood also have a version of Toadstool Café in their Super Nintendo areas. Toadstool Cafe Epic Universe is a whimsical dining destination located within Super Nintendo World. Designed to immerse guests in the Mushroom Kingdom, the café features vibrant décor, interactive elements, and panoramic views of the animated world outside.

The menu offers a variety of themed dishes that cater to all ages. Starters include the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, a mushroom-shaped bread brushed with garlic butter and parmesan, and the Super Mushroom Soup, a creamy mushroom soup accompanied by Super Mushroom crackers. Salad options feature the Piranha Plant Caprese, combining fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil pesto, and the Super Star Chicken Salad, which includes romaine, tomatoes, mushrooms, and a creamy truffle dressing topped with a parmesan Super Star and star-shaped croutons.

For main entrees, guests can choose the Mario Burger, an all-beef patty with bacon, mushrooms, and American cheese on a brioche bun, or the Luigi Burger, featuring pesto-grilled chicken. Bowser’s Fireball Challenge is a popular dish, a one-pound meatball topped with mozzarella, served with mushroom marinara sauce, a Bowser-themed puff pastry, and a side of hot sauce.

Toadstoll Cafe Epic Universe desserts are equally imaginative, with options like the ? Block Tiramisu, encased in cookie panels resembling the iconic game block, and the Mt. Beanpole Cake, inspired by the game’s flagpole, featuring layers of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cake topped with matcha mousse.

While reservations are not required, the café operates on a first-come, first-served basis during park hours. Based on the crowd levels during previews at Universal Epic Universe, this place will be very busy. Guests can also utilize mobile ordering for convenience with table delivery.

No matter whether in Japan, Hollywood, or Orlando, Toadstool Cafes have a reputation for being slow with service and delivering food to the table. During our recent visit, Toadstool Cafe Epic Universe brought the food to our table at the slowest rate of any time we had dined at the theme park. However, the criticism of slowness may be unfair since this place is very popular, and the menu style may also contribute to slow delivery.

Toadstoll Cafe Epic Universe: Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl – $17.99

Toadstool Cafe Epic Universe

During a recent visit, we ordered the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl. This creatively designed menu item perfectly fits the Nintendo theme. It consists of mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom marinara sauce topped with a Super Mushroom pizza crust. The sauce comes in a cute bowl that complements the mushroom-shaped pizza crust.

However, the presentation leads to issues of the best way to eat this item. Do you pour the sauce into the mushroom-shaped pizza crust? Or do you use the pizza crust to dip the flavorful sauce? Is there some other method? After a long day at Universal Epic Universe, we did not know, so we went with the pizza crust dipping method.

How Did it Taste?

Toadstool Cafe Epic Universe

Before discussing taste, we need to comment on the portion size. The mushroom-shaped pizza crust dominates the bowl with the sauce. We have concerns regarding the value of the small portion of sauce that guests receive.

Despite that, the sauce mixture tastes great. We just felt our entrée needed more of it. The comically large pizza crust may make the sauce amount look small, in fairness. However, we ran out of sauce way before the pizza crust. Overall. The flavors of the sauce and pizza crust pair nicely. Still, for basically $18, we expected more.
