Step into the dino-filled world of T-Rex Cafe at Disney Springs. Discover the immersive experience, menu highlights, and whether the food justifies the hype and price.

In the vibrant heart of Disney Springs, amidst the bustling shops and entertainment, lies a portal to the prehistoric era: T-Rex Cafe. This isn’t just a restaurant. T-Rex Café at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World functions as an experience, taking guests to the age of dinosaurs, blending dining with a thrilling prehistoric adventure. When walking past T-Rex Café, guests will have difficulty missing it with all the dinosaur décor.
Despite the enticing dinosaur experience at T-Rex Café, this Disney Springs table service restaurant receives significant criticism for its lower-quality cuisine at higher-than-expected prices. Still, that does not keep guests from booking their advanced dining reservations at T-Rex Café. T-Rex Café remains one of the top five most searched for advanced dining reservations at Disney Springs.
T-Rex Café participates in the Landry’s Restaurant Group. That means Landry’s Select Club members receive potential discounts and birthday perks. The Landry’s Select Club also helps guests get faster access to a table when walking up to dine.
T-Rex Cafe: A Sensory Overload of Prehistoric Proportions
From the moment guests step inside the T-Rex Café at Disney Springs, they become enveloped in a world of animatronic wonders. Life-sized dinosaurs fill the dining areas, from the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex to the gentle Triceratops. Their movements and roars create a sense of excitement for many guests, especially smaller ones fascinated by dinosaurs. The decor presents guests with lush-looking, prehistoric vegetation and cascading waterfalls, contributing to the captivating atmosphere.
Guests with sensory sensitivity should be careful when choosing to visit T-Rex Café. The sensory experience extends beyond visuals. The restaurant’s soundscape involves a symphony of dinosaur calls, jungle noises, and the occasional dramatic rumble. These are designed to enhance the feeling of being immersed in a prehistoric world. Adding to this, every 20 minutes or so, the restaurant experiences a “meteor shower,” which is a loud and visually stimulating event. Needless to say, T-Rex Café does not make an ideal romantic date night dinner. That fails to mention all the loud birthday celebration songs that happen at T-Rex Cafe.
To make this point clear, one member of our party who had not been to T-Rex Café before commented on the loudness of this table service restaurant. They said it was a constant roar, and that was not about the periodically moving animatronics.
Exploration and Discovery
T-Rex Cafe works as a place for more than passive observation and entertainment. It encourages exploration and discovery. For example, the “Ice Cave” is a particularly popular attraction, offering a cool respite from the Florida heat. In addition, it showcases woolly mammoths and saber-toothed cats.
T-Rex Cafe: A Menu with Prehistoric Flair

While the atmosphere is undeniably the star of the show, T-Rex Cafe also offers a diverse menu of American cuisine. Something exists to satisfy every palate, from hearty burgers and pasta dishes to seafood and steaks. Many menu items have prehistoric-themed titles, like the Meteor Meatloaf or Tar Pit Fried Shrimp, adding to the overall experience. And of course, there is a kid-friendly menu for the younger explorers. In addition, T-Rex Café, like most Landry’s Restaurants, offers limited-time seasonal items to enhance the everyday menu.
Navigating the Prehistoric Landscape

Given its popularity, T-Rex Cafe at Disney Springs often experiences long wait times, especially during peak seasons. Therefore, advance dining reservations are highly recommended. This place also has shopping with a Build-a-Dino operation that kids will gravitate towards, so prepare your bank account for that.
A Family-Friendly Adventure

T-Rex Cafe is particularly well suited for families with children. The combination of animatronic dinosaurs, interactive exhibits, and a kid-friendly menu creates a memorable and engaging experience for young explorers. However, it’s worth noting that the restaurant can be pretty loud, which may not be ideal for those seeking a quiet and intimate dining experience. Groups with sensory concerns should probably avoid T-Rex Café.
Our Latest Dining Adventure at T-Rex Cafe Disney Springs

We recently visited T-Rex Café on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch. Our party consisted of adults only. Thus, the appeal of some aspects of the dinosaur-themed restaurant failed to be a hit with us. In addition, we have visited this table service restaurant many times. On those occasions, we have dined at a table in the main dining area or at the large bar at T-Rex Café.
Our group had an advanced dining reservation at 1:30 p.m., so we arrived early after visiting Gideon’s Bakehouse to purchase some more Carrot Cake Cookies. T-Rex Café uses a two-queue system. You check in at the outdoor stand. After that, guests are sent to another queue or given a message to wait for a text. When visiting T-Rex Café, plan extra time for the awkward queue system.
In our case, we were guided to the lobby area after receiving a message that our table was ready. This was near the second check-in queue. Our group waited several minutes in the uncomfortable waiting spot. Then, we were escorted to our seats near the Ice Cave area of T-Rex Café.
Our server came to take our drink orders. Our group only ordered entrees. Two salads were ordered: the Omnivore and Cobb Salads. One person ordered the Sunset Isle Salmon (Grilled salmon, zucchini, bell pepper, spinach, Kalamata olives, garbanzo beans, Feta cheese, orzo pasta salad) for $34.99.
“You Know That is Spicy, Right?” Did Not Happen

Another person in the group ordered the Creole Chicken & Shrimp Ravioli (Spicy), which consists of “Shrimp, sautéed chicken, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, andouille sausage, hot & spicy Cajun sauce, four cheese ravioli, according to the T-Rex Café menu. That pasta entrée costs $33.99. When this item was ordered, the server did not do the typical thing to confirm, “You know that is spicy, right?” After we tasted it, we understood why.
Our entrée orders were placed by 1:45 p.m. Two entrees arrived at our table at 2:18 p.m., and the others arrived a minute later. Based on our arrival time, we encountered three “meteor showers,” which happened every 20 minutes before our food arrived.
Guests should also be prepared that the person bringing their food to the table will most likely be someone other than their main server. This leads to some confusion about which dish belongs to which person. T-Rex Café uses many service staff to deliver food to the tables.
Food Quality at T-Rex Cafe Disney Springs
During our recent visit, we found the food to be average as anticipated. The reputation for average to below-average table service food quality remains a constant. Like many Walt Disney World character dining meals, guests visit for the experience at T-Rex Cafe, not the food.
Cobb Salad
We have reviewed the Cobb Salad at T-Rex Cafe before. Though this version’s presentation looks different from the others we have ordered, the quality continues to be below average. This $24.99 salad failed to impress.
Omnivore’s Delight Salad at T-Rex Cafe – $20.99

In contrast, this would be our suggestion when dining at T-Rex Café, looking for a salad. The menu description reads, “Mixed greens, seasonal berries, fried goat cheese, apple cider vinaigrette.” Guests can add chicken, shrimp, or salmon for an additional charge. Though the components will not dazzle most guests, they make a reasonable salad for those looking for some nutrition during their visit to dine with the dinosaurs.
Sunset Isle Salmon – $34.99

The table service restaurants at Disney Springs offer some excellent salmon dishes. The T-Rex Café version makes a reasonable option. The menu description reads, “Grilled salmon, zucchini, bell pepper, spinach, Kalamata olives, garbanzo beans, Feta cheese, orzo pasta salad.”
Though we would select ones at other Disney Springs restaurants, this functions as serviceable. The member of our group who orders salmon often stated that they would choose salmon elsewhere over this one. That does not indicate this salmon dish was terrible. Still, it tasted unremarkable.
Creole Chicken and Shrimp Ravioli (Spicy) at T-Rex Cafe Disney Springs – $33.99

The most confusing entrée of the four ordered was the poorly named Creole Chicken and Shrimp Ravioli (Spicy). Before explaining the many reasons this menu item should be called something else, we want to point out that this dish offered a pleasant variety of flavors. With the chicken, shrimp, cheese raviolis, and vegetables, each bite offered variation, in a good way.
However, the menu description reads, “Shrimp, sautéed chicken, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, andouille sausage, hot & spicy Cajun sauce, four cheese ravioli.” This menu description does not match the item’s title. When guests read “Creole Chicken and Shrimp Ravioli (Spicy)” they expect a few things, such as:
- A robust Cajun spice
- Shrimp in the raviolis
- Chicken and shrimp to star with this dish
However, as the menu description indicates, the ravioli will not contain shrimp, and this dish only had a few pieces of shrimp. The entrée also came with a small piece of bread, which was not indicated in the menu description. However, that bread pairs well with the sauce.
Spicy Sauce?

Speaking of the sauce, unless someone is very averse to Cajun seasoning, they will not find this dish spicy. We only experienced a few bites that had any consistent Cajun spice. For a dish advertised as “Spicy,” this lacks anything resembling that flavor style. This qualifies as Disney theme park level spice but just barely.
Guests do receive several cheese raviolis, which we enjoyed. In fact, the ravioli might be the best part of this dish. Like the chicken and shrimp, the andouille sausage lacked a robust flavor.
In addition, we hope guests enjoy the various colors of the plate. Still, with the dark lighting style of T-Rex Café, that can be overlooked easily.
This dish would qualify as typical, like the other entrees we tried. Based on the atmosphere and the preparation time that day, the entrée did nothing to elevate the low opinion most guests have about the food quality at T-Rex Café.
T-Rex Cafe: Conclusion

T-Rex Café at Disney Springs delivers a visually captivating and sensory-rich experience, especially for dinosaur-loving kids. However, the food remains consistently underwhelming for the price, with long waits and an often chaotic atmosphere. While the immersive environment and family-friendly features offer plenty of entertainment, those seeking high-quality cuisine or a relaxing dining experience may want to look elsewhere. For families prioritizing theme over taste, T-Rex Café is a one-of-a-kind adventure—just know what to expect.
