Following the popular “Meet a Mermaid” event that transformed the aquarium throughout May with underwater dive shows in the Atlantic habitat and dry meet-and-greets in the Grotto, a brand-new adventure is swimming into Central Florida. Guests are invited to dive into a JAW-some summer adventure during Summer of Sharks at Sea Life Orlando Aquarium, running June 26 through Aug. 9.
Summer of Sharks
Designed to inspire curiosity about one of the ocean’s most misunderstood animals, the event combines family fun with hands-on learning through interactive experiences, daily educational talks, themed activities and opportunities to learn about the seven shark species that call Sea Life Orlando home. Guests can explore the aquarium with a Shark Tracking Activity Guide, meet expert educators stationed throughout the attraction and discover how sharks help maintain healthy ocean ecosystems.

Similar to the behind-the-scenes sneak peeks offered during the mermaid season, this tour gives you a look at the “top side” of the tanks, highlighting complex filtration systems and specialized diets.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet some of Sea Life Orlando’s most fascinating residents, including Tia and Tamara, blacktip reef shark sisters born at Sea Life San Antonio as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Blacktip Reef Shark Species Survival Plan (SSP); Wario, a dwarf nurse shark rescued and rehabilitated by Sea Life Orlando’s animal care team; and Agave and Nebula, zebra sharks that are part of the AZA Zebra Shark Species Survival Plan (SSP).
For guests looking to bring home a unique souvenir, Sea Life Orlando will offer shark-themed merchandise and artwork created by Agave, one of the aquarium’s resident zebra sharks. Agave participates in enrichment activities, including creating one-of-a-kind paintings.
Sea Life Orlando’s commitment to animal welfare extends beyond daily care. Each year, the aquarium’s sharks receive comprehensive veterinary examinations, including bloodwork, ultrasounds, measurements and visual health assessments.
