Skillet at Seven Seas Food Festival SeaWorld Orlando
Skillet will be in concert at SeaWorld Orlando on Friday, May 2, 2025. This American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1996. The band currently consists of husband and wife duo John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), along with Jen Ledger (drums, co-lead vocals) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar). Skillet has released twelve studio albums, including Collide and Comatose, which received Grammy nominations. Comatose and Awake are certified Platinum and Double Platinum by the RIAA, while Rise and Unleashed albums are certified Gold as of June 29, 2020.
Skillet: Why the Band Name?

John Cooper, the lead singer of Skillet, often tells how the band got its name. In one telling, he said, “We called the band Skillet because when we got together, it was my friend, actually a pastor of mine who kind of helped us get together, who said, ‘You would be good with a guitar player from another band. Start a side project, write a few songs, find a drummer from a different band — and it would be like cooking, taking all these different ingredients from different bands and throwing it all in a skillet.’ And that’s how the name came about.”
Skillet’s musical style has evolved over the years, encompassing Christian rock, Christian metal, alternative rock, hard rock, nu metal, post-grunge, and symphonic metal. Their debut album was characterized by grunge influences, while subsequent releases incorporated electronic elements and industrial sounds.
The band’s breakthrough came with the release of Collide in 2003, followed by Comatose in 2006, which featured singles like “Rebirthing” and “Whispers in the Dark.” Awake, released in 2009, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and included hits such as “Monster” and “Hero.” These songs gained widespread recognition, with “Monster” being used as the theme song for WWE’s Hell in a Cell event and “Hero” featured in various sports broadcasts, including National Football League games.
Revolution by Skillet
In recent years, Skillet has continued producing music that resonates with Christian and mainstream audiences. Their twelfth studio album, Revolution, was released independently on November 1, 2024. Frontman John Cooper described the album’s theme as a “revolution for love,” emphasizing the importance of loving one’s enemies. The album cover features a flag with “1 COR 13:13,” referencing the biblical verse highlighting faith, hope, and love.
Skillet’s ability to blend faith-based messages with a hard rock sound has garnered them a diverse fan base. Their relentless touring schedule and dynamic live performances have solidified their reputation as a formidable force in the music industry. With over 12 million units sold worldwide, Skillet continues to inspire and entertain audiences across the globe.
