Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Taste the Caribbean at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort with shareable platters, tropical cocktails, and dessert favorites

When it comes to Walt Disney World dining, many fans think first of the character meals, the Epcot festival kiosks, or the big-name restaurants inside the theme parks. Still, some of the most enjoyable dining experiences are tucked away at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. One of the best examples of this hidden gem category is Sebastian’s Bistro, the table-service restaurant at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
With its colorful Caribbean flavors, beachside theming, and family-style menu, Sebastian’s Bistro has developed a loyal following among Disney foodies. In this Sebastian’s Bistro review, we’ll walk you through the experience from location and atmosphere to menu highlights, dining tips, and whether we think it deserves a spot on your Walt Disney World vacation itinerary.
Location and Atmosphere

Sebastian’s Bistro sits along the water at Old Port Royale, the central hub of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. If you’ve never been, Caribbean Beach is a sprawling resort that wraps around Barefoot Bay, a scenic 45-acre lake. The resort is divided into villages, each themed after Caribbean islands like Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados, Trinidad, and Martinique. The restaurant itself is just steps away from the resort’s main pool, Fuentes del Morro, and next door to Banana Cabana, the open-air lounge.

Walking inside Sebastian’s Bistro, you’re greeted with light and airy décor. It’s not the over-the-top kitsch of a themed restaurant like Trader Sam’s or ’Ohana. Instead, the vibe is casual coastal: light blues and whites, nautical accents, wicker-style seating, and colorful Caribbean-inspired artwork. The space feels relaxed, comfortable, and never overwhelming. This makes a nice contrast to the sometimes hectic energy of the parks.
The restaurant isn’t huge, which actually works in its favor. It creates a quieter, more intimate dining setting compared to the cavernous resort restaurants like Chef Mickey’s or Boma.
The Family-Style Dining Concept

Sebastian’s Bistro originally opened with a standard à la carte menu in 2018, but in 2021 Disney revamped the experience into a family-style, all-you-care-to-enjoy meal. This change simplified the service, leaned into the popularity of shareable meals, and gave the restaurant a unique identity.
Instead of choosing individual entrées, your table receives a variety of Caribbean-inspired dishes, all meant to be passed around and shared. It’s a smart approach that makes dinner feel communal, almost like you’re being welcomed into someone’s island home.

The current setup includes:
- A signature bread service
- A family-style salad
- Main platter of proteins and sides
- A dessert
If you have dietary restrictions, Sebastian’s Bistro offers a plant-based version. Additionally, Walt Disney World excels at accommodating special requests.
Sebastian’s Bistro only offers dinner service. It typically opens at 4:30 p.m. Guests can acquire an advance dining reservation on the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World website.
Why Do They Call It a Bistro?

Merriam-Webster’s definition of bistro, “a small or unpretentious restaurant,” leaves way too much latitude for interpretation. With that definition alone, pizza places, creperies, and ice cream shops could all also be bistros. Even words like “small” and “unpretentious” are subjective, depending on variables like geographic real estate trends and tax brackets.
There are a few key qualities that distinguish real bistros from generic, cramped restaurants with curated Spotify playlists and a “Starry Night” print in the bathroom. An authentic bistro is a welcoming place that can satisfy most tastes in a comfortable setting designed for relaxation. The food might be ordinary, but it feels warmly familiar. The space may be busy at times, but it makes guests feel at ease. The restaurant should offer at least a few wine options that aren’t overly marked up. Still, a few additional qualities further narrow the field.
In the context of defining a specific restaurant style, the process of elimination is a practical scientific approach. A bistro is the opposite end of the spectrum from a “clubstaurant,” with family-friendly, themed dining chains at the center. Therefore, a bistro is often the smallest, yet still approachable, sit-down restaurant in a given area—more precise than just “small.” Excluding any unusual exceptions, a bistro typically doesn’t indulge in the smoke and foams of molecular gastronomy or carry high-end prices for special occasions. It must offer a broadly appealing, if simple, menu that results in average check totals. Additionally, a bistro is generally recognized by its slight French influence that extends beyond a college dorm aesthetic.
Based on that, we will let you decide if Sebastian’s Bistro qualifies as an authentic version. Nonetheless, this is theme park resort dining, so rules are optional in many cases!
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Bread Service – A Strong Start

Every great Disney meal seems to begin with a memorable bread service, and Sebastian’s Bistro is no exception. Guests are served house-baked pull-apart rolls with guava butter and a caramelized onion jam. During our visit, we also received a Mickey-shaped cheese-flavored bread, which had the consistency of shortbread.
The rolls themselves are warm, fluffy, and slightly sweet, but the real standout is the guava butter. It’s tropical, fruity, and a perfect example of how the restaurant incorporates Caribbean flavors in accessible ways. The onion jam is a savory contrast, giving diners two distinct options to try.
Pro tip: Don’t fill up too quickly! This bread service is delicious, but you’ll want room for the main platter.
Salad: Fresh and Bright

Additionally, when the bread service arrives at your table, you will also receive a salad, which typically features mixed greens, fruit like pineapple or mango, pickled vegetables, and a zesty dressing. While salads don’t always get much attention, this one is worth noting. It’s refreshing, colorful, and provides a nice balance before the heavier proteins arrive. The tropical elements shine here. It’s not just a generic garden salad tossed on the table. This feels crafted to match the Caribbean theme.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: The Main Event – Taste of the Caribbean Platter

During our visit, we chose the Taste of the Caribbean platter option. On our previous visits, we have dined on the plant-based platter, which we enjoyed. However, the highlight of the meal is the Taste of the Caribbean Platter, a bountiful selection of meats and sides served family-style. This is where Sebastian’s Bistro really earns its reputation.
The platter typically includes:
- Oven-roasted citrus chicken – Tender, juicy, and well-seasoned with citrusy notes that add brightness.
- Slow-cooked mojo pork – Rich, flavorful, and a crowd favorite with its garlicky, tangy marinade.
- Grilled flank steak with chimichurri – A bold, herbaceous flavor that pairs beautifully with the steak’s char.
- Baked Fish – with a citrus butter to provide the island feel.
Vegetarian guests can request the Impossible™ plant-based curry, which is hearty and flavorful enough to satisfy even non-vegetarians.
Side Dishes

The proteins are accompanied by sides that round out the Caribbean-inspired spread:
- Cilantro rice and beans – A staple side, hearty and comforting.
- Vegetable curry – Mild but flavorful, filled with seasonal vegetables.
- Grilled broccolini – Adds freshness and a smoky note to the meal.
What makes the platter work so well is variety. Everyone at the table can pick their favorites, whether they gravitate toward the steak, pork, or veggies. However, since it’s all-you-care-to-enjoy, you can request more of the items you love most.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Dessert – A Sweet Ending

To finish, Sebastian’s Bistro serves a standout Coconut Pineapple Bread Pudding, a tropical twist on the bread puddings found at other Disney restaurants. Served warm with a rich caramel sauce, it’s indulgent but not overly heavy. It also comes topped with vanilla ice cream. Sebastian’s Bistro also offers a plant-based version of the Coconut Bread Pudding.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Best Part

We have not even mentioned the best part of dining at Sebastian’s Bistro. Sure, all-you-care-to-enjoy dining satisfies even the most ferocious eater. However, this meal cost $39 for adults and $21 for children aged three to nine. Yes, enjoy all-you-care-to-enjoy dining at very similar prices to what you’d find at similar restaurants off Walt Disney World property.
Additionally, this price includes standard non-alcoholic beverages. Since soft drinks cost $5 or more on Walt Disney World property, the value increases the more you examine the dining operation.
Dining at Walt Disney World is not cheap, and one of the most common questions is whether a restaurant is “worth it.” Sebastian’s Bistro is priced at a fixed cost per person (similar to ’Ohana or Story Book Dining), which may feel steep at first glance. However, the combination of quality, quantity, and uniqueness makes it a surprisingly strong value:
- You’re getting multiple proteins and sides, not just one entrée.
- The meal is all-you-care-to-enjoy, meaning second helpings are included.
- The flavors are distinct from most other Disney restaurants, offering something different from the typical steakhouse or character meal.
Compared to other prix fixe experiences on the property, Sebastian’s Bistro feels reasonably priced, especially if you go when hungry. Discounts, like the Walt Disney World annual pass one , are accepted at Sebastian’s Bistro.
Enhancements
Guests at Sebastian’s Bistro can upgrade their dining experience. They can order:
- Crab and Seafood Cake with Tropical Mango Slaw and Guajillo Aïoli – $13.00
- Fried Coconut Shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce – $10.00
Specialty Drinks and Cocktails
Since Sebastian’s Bistro sits next to Banana Cabana lounge, the drink menu is especially strong. Guests can order a variety of tropical cocktails, such as:
- Caribbean Rum Punch
- Tropical Mojito
- Spiced Rum Mule
Non-alcoholic mocktails and specialty lemonades are also available, making the drink list approachable for both adults and kids. Pairing one of these with the meal enhances the laid-back, island vibe of the evening.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Service and Atmosphere

Based on our multiple visits, service at Sebastian’s Bistro has been consistently friendly and efficient. The family-style format actually makes things easier for servers, since they’re not juggling a dozen different entrée requests. Plates arrive quickly, refills are mostly smooth, and there’s an overall sense of hospitality that fits the Caribbean theming. The tables for two are fairly small. This does lead to some issues when bringing the platters.
However, the restaurant’s quieter atmosphere also makes it a nice retreat from the parks. While it’s not silent (you’ll still hear happy conversations and the occasional birthday celebration), it’s far calmer than dining inside Magic Kingdom or Epcot.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Who Should Dine Here?

Sebastian’s Bistro is an excellent choice for several types of Disney visitors:
- Families: The family-style setup makes it easy for kids and adults to share, and picky eaters can stick to the proteins or sides they enjoy.
- Foodies: If you’re tired of standard American fare, the Caribbean-inspired flavors are a welcome change.
- Resort guests: Staying at Caribbean Beach or riding the Skyliner makes this restaurant very convenient.
- Date night couples: The relaxed vibe and waterfront location make for a surprisingly romantic meal.
Tips for Dining at Sebastian’s Bistro

- Make reservations early – While not as difficult to book as ’Ohana or Be Our Guest, reservations still fill up quickly, especially during peak times.
- Come hungry – This is a big meal with plenty of variety, so skip the heavy snacks beforehand.
- Request more of your favorites – Don’t be shy about asking for extra portions of the steak, pork, or sides you loved most. In fact, we find the second and third rounds often taste better.
- Time your meal around the Skyliner – If you’re staying at Pop Century, Art of Animation, or Riviera Resort, it’s just a quick Disney Skyliner ride away.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Our Most Recent Experience

This past weekend, we made a visit to dine at Sebastian’s Bistro. We arrived a few minutes early for our 4:35 p.m. advanced dining reservation. We were quickly seated at a table for two near the window. Our server arrived soon after bringing us bread and the salad. We also had our drink ordered taken.

The bread service impressed us. As expected, we loved the guava butter. Additionally, the salad tasted light and refreshing. With the use of fruit and the key lime dressing, this salad, along with the bread, started our meal nicely. One member of our group compared it to the ‘Ohana salad.

After that, the cast member brought our entree platter and sides. We suspect most guests will not be impressed with the Cilantro Rice and Beans, Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, and Candied Plantains. In past visits, we recall these sides providing a more robust flavor. They tasted fine. Still, they are not the stars of the show.

Taste of the Caribbean Platter
Speaking of the stars, all of the meats tasted above average for this price point. In fairness, any Sebastian’s Bistro review should stress that this is not signature dining. However, it is also not signature dining priced!

Our basic thoughts during our meal look like this:
- The Baked Fish did its job. Nonetheless, we prefer the other meats more.
- The Oven-roasted Chicken with Tamarind Barbecue exceeded our expectation. We suggest using extra sauce to enhance the chicken
- Chili-rubbed Beef with Roasted Red Pepper Chimichurri was one of our favorites. In fact, we asked or more.
- Slow-cooked Mojo Pork with Mango Samba stood out as our favorite meat. The salsa adds a light, zesty freshness to the pork. We also asked for more of this. To our surprise, the pork tasted even better during out second round of eating it.
Overall, the flavors of the entree platter will not amaze guests. However, this family-style dining at Disney is available for a very competitive price. Perhaps your secong plate will tastes as good as ours did.
Sebastian’s Bistro Review: Coconut-Pineapple Bread Pudding for Dessert

This portion of our Sebastian’s Bistro review will be short and telling. One member of our group fails to enjoy bread pudding. They often complain about bread pudding being too dry. After we finished the initial dessert brought to us, they asked for another one- ‘nuf said!

Sebastian’s Bistro is a hidden gem at Disney World. Its breezy atmosphere, family-style menu, and Caribbean flavors make it a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re a resort guest or just visiting via the Skyliner, this Sebastian’s Bistro review hopefully confirms that it’s worth adding to your Walt Disney World dining itinerary.
