Korean Smashburger Tacos

For those who have followed along with our weekday noon theme park dining reviews at MSM News, you probably already know that we enjoyed the Smash Burger Tacos that became part of the everyday menu at City Works Eatery & Pour House. So, when we heard about the initial announcement that Korean Smash Tacos would be featured on the upcoming Chef Selects Menu at City Works Disney Springs, we had to try it.

Chef Selects Menu – July 16 Through September 8

City Works Eatery & Pour House, known for its extensive craft beer selection and elevated American comfort food, frequently features a “Chef Selects” menu. This limited-time offering showcases the culinary team’s creativity, featuring new, inventive dishes and drinks that rotate every eight weeks. These selections often feature bold flavors, trending ingredients, and global inspirations, providing a fresh twist on classic pub fare.  The Chef Selects menu allows City Works to push culinary boundaries while maintaining an approachable and craveable experience for its guests.

Korean Smash Tacos – $20.95

Korean Smash Tacos

The Korean Smash Tacos consist of “Smashed beef patty, gochujang glaze, miso aioli, kimchi, green onions, sesame seeds, flour tortilla, choice of side.” Guests can select one side from the following choices: fries, chips & salsa, or a side salad. During our visit, we chose the side salad, which consists of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Guests receive two tacos.

We visited City Works Eatery & Pour House Disney Springs on the first day of the new menu items. As often happens with rotating seasonal menu items, the chefs required a little extra time to ensure they prepared the Korean Smash Tacos properly.

We knew from previous visits that City Works does a good job with smashburger tacos. Thus, we expected more of the same with the Korean Smash Tacos. The preparation of the tortilla and burger portion fulfilled our expectations.

Solid Flavor of Korean Smash Tacos

Korean Smash Tacos

Regarding flavors, the gochujang glaze adds a subtle spicy kick to the background of this entrée. As opposed to a traditional smashburger, this does not offer the powerful cheese and beef flavor. Still, guests should be aware of this from the title of the entrée.

Koream Smash Tacos

Towards the end of eating the second taco, it began to drip juice, which was fair, considering the taco filling. With the glaze, kimchi, and aioli, it offers lots of flavors. However, they can be inconsistent during the process of eating the tacos.

The enjoyment of this entrée largely depends on the guests’ preferences. For example, our group preferred the flavors of the standard Smash Burger Tacos. Still, this non-traditional smash burger will appeal to many guests. Our preference for the traditional one does not diminish the quality and preparation of the Korean Smash Tacos. Overall, we love seeing this new menu item and would happily recommend it to those seeking a non-traditional entrée.

Elote Corn “Ribs”

Chef Selects Menu

The other food item on the new Chef Selects menu at City Works Eatery & Pour House showcases some fusion creativity. The limited-time Elote Corn “Ribs” consist of “Fresh Corn, chili-lime crema, queso fresco, tajin, micro cilantro.”
