Dive into the Flavors of Florida with the City Works Florida appetizer, Key lime conch fritters with mango-chili sauce, and fried papaya.

We love the Flavors of Florida season at Disney Springs. Many of the restaurants at Disney Springs create dishes based on the traditional flavors of the Sunshine State. That usually means creations featuring key lime, oranges, other citrus fruits, and seafood.

We visited City Works Eatery & Pour House on a weekday afternoon. We were seated at one of the tables in the bar area for four. Our service, as usual, was excellent whenever we have visited this table service restaurant. In case you are unaware, we visit City Works Eatery & Pour House often based on its menu and versatility. City Works Eatery & Pour House offers a Chef Selects Menu that rotates about every eight weeks. Additionally, we have been fortunate enough to interview one of the executive chefs over the City Works Eatery & Pour House chain.
City Works Florida Appetizer: South Florida Conch Fritter Cakes

Based on the menu description, this City Works Florida appetizer sounded like a fabulous Flavors of Flavor menu item. After we took a few bites, we came to the same conclusion. Guests get four fritter cakes. These do not look like standard conch fritters. However, the menu description says fritter cakes, so guests should be prepared for that.
The South Florida Conch Fritter Cakes offer a variety of robust flavors that play into the “Flavors of Florida” theme. The chili sauce and key lime serve as dominant flavors with this dish. The conch flavor is somewhat subdued compared to other components. The sauce is plentiful and wonderful. If you want a more powerful spicy kick, then add more of the sauce. However, guests can use less of the sauce to avoid that aspect with this City Works Florida appetizer.

We thought the fried papaya helps presentation, but gets overshadowed in terms of flavor. However, we love its addition to this Flavor of Florida item. Additionally, we thought the overall flavor make this dish stand out as a Flavors of Florida dish. If this were a test to create a menu item using as many components as possible that fit the Flavors of Florida image, this appetizer would receive high marks. Also, the flavors work well. Still, less adventurous eaters may want to pass on this Flavors of Florida dish.
Regarding shareability, this City Works Florida appetizer will work nicely before your entrees. However, it is not a hearty appetizer that can also be a light lunch.
