Hungry for pizza at Universal Orlando? Our Red Oven Pizza Review covers the Prosciutto & Arugula pie, price, and flavor that make this spot a CityWalk favorite.

We visit Universal Orlando Resort often. However, Universal CityWalk Orlando does not compare to the massive size of Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. Still, it has plenty to offer guests. This Red Oven Pizza Review proves it.

A quick service dining option at Universal CityWalk Orlando that consistently receives positive reviews is Red Oven Pizza Bakery. This place offers pizza and salads as its main menu items. The pizzas are quick-fired when guests order them.

The crucial question revolves around the pizza toppings at Red Oven Pizza Bakery. While guests can order the Big Eye Pepperoni, most of the pizza options would not be found at your run-of-the-mill pizza chain. For example, Red Oven Pizza Bakery offers guests a Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza.

Walt Disney World fans who enjoy Via Napoli at Epcot should read the next words with caution…

Red Oven Pizza Review: Better than Via Napoli?

Red Oven Pizza Review

Our food reporter claims that the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza at Red Oven Pizza Bakery tastes significantly better than the Prosciutto e Melone version at Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria. In fact, our entire group who dined during that visit agreed. Oh, did we mention that this pizza can be ordered without a reservation and costs $17.99, which is larger than the individual pizzas at Via Napoli?

In fairness, we acknowledge that Via Napoli offers some of the best pizza at the Orlando area theme parks around. In fact, we wonder what people are thinking when they order something besides pizza at Via Napoli. However, pizza at Via Napoli costs more than many guests wish to pay. Unless guests order the half-meter pizza, Via Napoli can be cost-prohibitive for theme park groups looking for pizza.

Universal Orlando Resort visitors do not face this price point issue. Red Oven Pizza Bakery resides near Vivo Italian Kitchen at Universal CityWalk Orlando. Hey, those places might even use the same pizza oven- just sayin’!

Guests looking for more upscale quality pizza at CityWalk can enjoy the pizza at Vivo Italian Kitchen, where advance dining reservations are a bit easier to get than at many Walt Disney World restaurants.

Still, those looking for a shareable pizza that costs under $20 can visit Red Oven Pizza Bakery. Our group did that recently. Previously, we reviewed the Roasted Chicken Pizza at Red Oven Pizza Bakery. Why did we develop a positive perspective about the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza at Red Oven Pizza Bakery?

Prosciutto & Arugula Red Oven Pizza Review – $17.99

Red Oven Pizza Review

The menu description for this pizza reads “fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, lemon-thyme vinaigrette, oregano, Parmigiano-Reggiano.” The Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza is one of the most popular and flavorful pies at Red Oven Pizza Bakery in Universal CityWalk Orlando. It features a contrast of salty, savory, and fresh ingredients:

  • Crust: The Neapolitan-style base is baked in a 900° stone-lined oven, resulting in a thin, airy, and slightly charred crust.
  • Toppings: It starts with a base of fresh mozzarella and is then topped after baking with delicate slices of prosciutto, a generous pile of peppery arugula, and shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano.
  • Finish: A final drizzle of a bright lemon-thyme vinaigrette is added to give the pizza a refreshing, zesty lift that cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese.

The best part of this pizza is the portion size of the toppings. This pizza does not lack for arugula, for example. It looks like a small salad on top of this pizza – in a good way! The amount of prosciutto deserves some praise as well.

Non-Traditional United States Pizza

Universal CityWalk Orlando

We also found the cheese paired well with the crust and other toppings. Overall, it makes a nice non-traditional pizza. Those looking for a more traditional pizza to enjoy while watching a game with an alcoholic beverage might want to look elsewhere. However, this “bianca” (white) pizza does not offer the more common tomato sauce many of us love. This white sauce pizza, however, makes a wonderful shareable pizza during your day at Universal Olrando Resort.
