Disney just released new Hollywood Studios summer food options! Here’s our full review of Rosie’s Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad.

Hollywood Studios summer food

Walt Disney World has introduced new Hollywood Studios summer food offerings, and we sampled one of the latest additions at Rosie’s All-American Café. Since most of the news menu items were either desserts or beverages, we opted for the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad at Rosie’s All-American Café.

Rosie’s All-American Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rosie’s All‑American Café is a quick‑service eatery located along Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, right between the thrill rides of Tower of Terror and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. The restaurant’s retro-World War II theme pays homage to Rosie the Riveter, featuring vintage décor and patriotic slogans.

The menu at Rosie’s consists mainly of traditional American cuisine, including burgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders. Overall, most food reporters lack a high opinion of this quick-service restaurant option. Rosie’s shares a large shaded outdoor seating area with the rest of Sunset Ranch Market food court, which offers a casual, breezy spot for a break. Nevertheless, the open‑air setup means less shelter from rain or heat. Mobile Order is available and accepts quick-service dining credits.

Speaking of mobile orders, that marks a good place to start our narrative of the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad. We visited Rosie’s All-American Café on the day this menu became available. As soon as we arrived, we placed a mobile order for the new salad. A few minutes later, My Disney Experience indicated our order was ready at window number one.

We went to pick up our order, joining a crowd of people at the pick-up window waiting for their orders. 14 minutes later, our order of just a salad was ready. Waiting at a window that long versus waiting in a queue to order defeats the point of mobile ordering. We recently encountered this issue at Harambe Market in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as well. However, the wait was much longer at Rosie’s All-American Café. In fairness, many of the cast members are working very hard, but technology is making them look bad.

Review: Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad – $12.99

Hollywood Studios summer food

The Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad consists of “Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken, Romaine Lettuce, Carrots, Red Cabbage, Celery, Cucumber, Avocado, Peppadew Peppers, and Green Onion with Sriracha-Ranch Dressing.” On first glance, we were not impressed. Still, it did provide what the menu description said, so that is worth something. However, after we sat down to enjoy this salad, we noticed some prominent strengths and weaknesses.

Hollywood Studios Summer Food: Strength of the Salad

For only $12.99 at a theme park, this made a reasonable value. On that same day, we paid $17.99 at another theme park for a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Additionally, at a third theme park, we paid $16.99 for a flatbread pizza. $12.99 looked like a bargain at that point. Also, this qualifies as a non-traditional theme park entrée with several components not commonly found at Walt Disney World.

Of course, the significant positive aspect of this salad is its actual nutrition. We know that sounds obvious. However, most theme park salads do not offer much in terms of nutrition compared to the empty calories piled on top of them.

Hollywood Studios Summer Food: Weaknesses of the Salad

The salad does taste like a non-traditional summer salad. However, none of the components offer anything above average in terms of quick-service food. The dressing lacks authentic sriracha-ranch flavor. In addition, the salad is pre-dressed, so if you don’t like the dressing flavor, you’re out of luck. Most will consider this to have too much dressing.  We suggest trying to get the dressing on the side.

Also, the chicken lacks a robust hot honey or buffalo flavor. However, it might qualify as theme park level spice, but barely. The dressing brings an inconsistent flavor pairing with the chicken. Although the new Hollywood Studios summer food aims to offer variety, not every item hits the mark.

We suggest mixing your salad up before eating it. Towards the end, we found some spicy kick, but nothing to alarm anyone who read the menu description.

With Docking Bay 7, ABC Commissary, and Woody’s Lunch Box as quick-service options at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Chef Salad fails to stand out. Although we love Walt Disney World and appreciate the addition of new non-traditional menu items, we will not order this again.
