IHOP is officially claiming the first Tuesday of March as National Pancake Day, turning a love for breakfast into a nationwide cultural movement. This year, the celebration kicks off on Tuesday, March 3, and the brand is inviting everyone to “meet up” for a free Short Stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at participating locations.
In fairness, we are not sure IHOP has the authority to declare National Pancake Day. Still, they did anyway! Maybe they did not sell enough pancakes on Fat Tuesday. Inquiring minds want to know!
National Pancake Day IHOP: More Than Just a Meal
The initiative aims to transform the restaurant into a community hub. Lenna Yamamichi, IHOP’s Vice President of Brand Creative, explains that the goal is to move beyond the traditional dining experience.

A Viral Celebration with Mr. Fantasy
Additionally, IHOP is partnering with viral musician and creator Mr. Fantasy. Mr. Fantasy will be hosting an IRL “meet up” at the IHOP in Hollywood (7006 Sunset Blvd) on March 3 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. PST.
“Since my arrival to L.A, IHOP pancakes have been my ‘GO TO’ breakfast. I was absolutely gobsmacked when they asked to team up for National Pancake Day,” said Mr. Fantasy. “Bringing people together in ALL shapes and forms is imperative to my mission here on this giant spinning marble we call EARTH. I can’t wait to meetup and share some fluffy stacks of deliciousness… Because nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, hits like pancakes with your favorite people. Love You.”
