Big changes are coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney Parks, including a Mandalorian storyline, Grogu, and destinations like Coruscant and Endor.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie comes out May 22, 2026. On that same date, big changes arrive for guests experiencing the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at both United States of America Disney theme park resorts. During the Imagineering Panel at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, significant details were shared about the new adventure for guests on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

We knew from the previous announcements that aspects of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” would be involved with the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. However, during the Imagineers Panel, details that should excite most guests were described.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: Choose Your Adventure?

According to Disney, “Starting May 22, 2026 at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will allow guests to control the iconic ship like never before. For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination, leading to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or the just-announced bustling city-planet, Coruscant. Another new gameplay addition allows the engineer positions to communicate with Grogu during the mission. “
At this point, we have no idea how six people will decide together how to choose their adventure. Still, this makes an exciting announcement for this attraction. However, the less-desired Engineers position will have a cute upgrade coming next year. The Engineer role on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will soon have the most important job in the galaxy! Besides pushing buttons, they will interact with and care for Grogu. The new responsibility will be added when the new Mandalorian-inspired storyline debuts on May 22, 2026.

Hondo Ohnaka Continues with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Also, in this new storyline, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates. There is a generous bounty for their capture, so guests will “borrow” the iconic ship and team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and explore the galaxy.

Disney stated that “none of this would be possible without our partnership with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM). With their help, you are in control of your own destiny on the attraction. This technology is also all built on Unreal Engine 5 by Epic Games, which are the same tools ILM uses on the Disney+ show, The Mandalorian. ”
BDX Droids
To finish the Imagineers Panel, the ever-popular BDX Droids also made a pit stop. They are now at Tokyo Disney Resort but will also make appearances at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris for a limited time very soon, according to Disney.
