We tried the new Chile Verde Pork Carnitas Taco at Moe’s Southwest Grill. See what we thought about the flavor, spice level, and value.
There was a time when the hot fast casual dining option was a burrito place. Even though the chicken tender trend with sauces has become the growing category in fast casual, many burrito places still offer value for those looking for a decent meal with some nutrition.
Moe’s Southwest Grill serves burritos, tacos, salad, quesadillas, and more. In recent days, the fast casual restaurant will be selling Chile Verde Pork Carnitas Tacos. These are $5.98 for one and $12.98 for three. Prices may vary depending on your location. In the Orlando market, Moe’s Southwest Grill locations also reside near Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.
With the new limited-time taco available at Moe’s Southwest Grill, we decided to stop in and try one. In fairness, during one of our trips, we tried one at a Florida location, not in the Orlando market.
Like the burritos at Moe’s Southwest Grill, guests order and then move down the line, asking for whichever toppings they want. It helps to have an idea of what you want on your taco before you order. If ordering this, guests will be asked for the hard or soft shell. We went with soft shell. In addition, you can have your taco with whatever toppings you desire.
Spice and Taste of Chile Verde Pork Carnitas Taco
The taco is wrapped in the standard aluminum foil used with other entrées at Moe’s Southwest Grill. The presentation will not win any awards, but no one expects a perfect presentation with an item made directly in front of you.
The Chile Verde Pork Carnitas Taco also offers a decent amount of spice that grows as you eat it. The components work well.
With the large portion of pork, the soft taco does not hold very much else, so guests should plan accordingly when ordering. However, we enjoyed the texture and flavor of the soft-shell tortilla. In fact, we thought this made an excellent taco. We would still suggest the burritos at Moe’s Southwest Grill over the tacos. Still, this worked well and would be worth it for three tacos at around $13 with chips and salsa. On the less positive side, our chips were below average during this visit.
The Chile Verde Pork Carnitas Tacos offered a spicy kick and pleasing flavor with fresh toppings, so it fulfills that assignment nicely in terms of getting what you read on the menu. The more we ate this, the spicier the kick we experienced. Those looking for a spicy taco should order this with peppers and onions. That makes a good combination. However, those vulnerable to a spicy kick should choose something else on the menu.
