LEGO Ideas Just Handed Fans the Keys to a Star Wars and Marvel Crossover

LEGO Ideas Challenge using Marvel and Star Wars

The new LEGO Ideas Challenge finally lets fans mash up Star Wars and Marvel. Here is how to enter, the key dates, and what could become a real set.

Two of pop culture’s biggest universes are about to collide in plastic-brick form, and you get a say in how it looks. At New York Comic Con, the LEGO Group announced a LEGO Ideas Challenge inviting fans to mash up Star Wars and Marvel for the first time.

Yes, you read that right. A lightsaber and a vibranium shield can finally share a shelf without anyone filing a studio memo. Even better, the winning builds have a shot at becoming an official LEGO product.

What the LEGO Ideas Challenge Actually Is

The premise is simple. Fans reimagine characters, vehicles, and scenes from both universes in LEGO form, submit the build, and let the community vote. The community then immortalizes the favorite submissions as official sets through the LEGO Ideas platform.

Fede Begher, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Group at the LEGO Group, called the challenge a milestone for LEGO Ideas. He said:

“This challenge is a milestone for LEGO Ideas and our fan community. For the first time ever, fans can build with both Marvel and Star Wars in a single LEGO Ideas challenge, unlocking entirely new possibilities for creativity and storytelling. We know our fans never stop imagining new ways to bring their favourite worlds together, and we’re excited to see the originality, passion and innovation they bring to this unique crossover.”

That is a big deal for a platform built on fan creativity. Crossover builds have lived in fan galleries and convention displays for years. This is the first time LEGO is putting an official stamp (and a possible shelf spot) on the idea.

LEGO Ideas Challenge: Three Ways to Mash It Up?

LEGO’s official wording is simply that fans can mash up Star Wars and Marvel vehicles, characters, or scenes. Fans should read the official rules before they start snapping bricks together, because the details matter.

Some potential starting points for builders could be one of these three challenge themes:

  • Vehicles: Think Star Wars starfighters meeting Marvel rides.
  • Characters: Your favorite heroes, villains, and scoundrels, remixed across universes.
  • Scenes: Full moments that bring both worlds into one diorama.

Why Now? Blame the Comics (and the Big Anniversary)

The timing is no accident. Star Wars turns 50 in 2027, and the Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles comic series was unveiled this past summer as a tribute to that anniversary. It launches in January and is billed as the first crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel Comics universes. The LEGO Ideas Challenge celebrates that crossover and honors the milestone.

How to Enter the LEGO Ideas Challenge

The challenge is open now. Here is the process straight from the announcement:

  1. Head to ideas.lego.com.
  2. Choose one of the three challenge themes: vehicles, characters, or scenes.
  3. Review the rules and guidelines.
  4. Build your creation with LEGO elements and submit it.

LEGO Ideas Challenge: Key Date to Know

Voting on submissions begins December 15, 2026. That gives builders a real window to design, build, photograph, and polish an entry before the community weighs in. If you have been sitting on a wild crossover idea, this is your sign to finally dig out the bin of bricks.

This is a genuinely fun move from LEGO. The Star Wars and Marvel crossover has been a fan daydream for ages, and handing the keys to the community is the right call. The Ideas format also means the final product reflects what fans actually want to build, not just what a design team guessed they would.
