Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando serves up new Tex-Mex fare. Discover if tacos and waterslides truly go together in our review.

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando

Eating Tex-Mex at a water park is a bold, chaotic act of culinary bravery. One minute you’re devouring a burrito the size of your forearm, the next you’re clenching your core on a 40-foot waterslide, questioning every life choice. Spicy tacos and jalapeño-loaded nachos may taste like heaven, but they turn your stomach into a salsa-dancing volcano mid-free fall. Ever tried to cannonball after a chimichanga?

Let’s not even discuss the hot cheese-to-bathing suit ratio. One wrong move and you’re wearing queso like sunscreen. Beans plus wave pool? Dangerous. Add sun, motion, and public restrooms; you’ve got the makings of a comedy-horror film. Tex-Mex at a water park is a gastrointestinal tightrope walk—delicious, risky, and wildly entertaining… for everyone watching from a safe distance. Nevertheless, we visited Kookaburra Kitchen while at Aquatica Orlando.

Kookaburra Kitchen, a quick service dining destination at Aquatica Orlando, unveiled a new Tex-Mex menu as part of the park’s “Aloha to Summer” celebration. This culinary revamp offers guests more options, including tacos, nachos, and taco salads featuring savory pork or chicken adobo. These dishes provide a zesty complement to the park’s tropical ambiance.

The Tex-Mex dining options at Kookaburra Kitchen include:

  • Tacos – Three Soft Flour Tortillas topped with a choice of protein and a combination of cilantro and white onion
  • Nachos – Tortilla chips piled high, topped with your choice of protein, cheddar cheese sauce, pico de gallo, Mexican crema, and guacamole.
  • Taco Salad – Fresh Romaine and Spring Mix, topped with your choice of protein, roasted corn, pico de gallo, & sprinkled with cotija cheese, crispy tortilla strips, & cilantro.

We finally visited Aquatica Orlando when Kookaburra Kitchen was open. In two previous visits, this dining location was closed for the day. The operating hours during our latest visit were 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This was a weekday during the summer season.

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando Basics

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando, located near the entrance to Loggerhead Lane at Aquatica Orlando, is a quick service dining option for Tex‑Mex and BBQ fare that will refuel you after rides and beach time. This venue also participates in Aquatica’s All‑Day Dining Deal, letting guests grab an entree, side (or dessert), and non‑alcoholic drink every 90 minutes. This makes a great value at $45 for those spending a full day at the water park.

We were aware that a menu overhaul took place at this location earlier this year, which enhanced the menu with Tex-Mex offerings.  Thus, we decided to try one of those. The ordering process was slower than expected. Still, after we placed our order, we got our food soon after. Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando has plenty of covered seating. However, you will be dining outside, which is expected at a water park.

Three Tacos Meal

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando

We opted for the Three Tacos meal. It costs $17.49. We also added guacamole for an additional $1.99. Well, we tried to do that. We did get guacamole, but we were not charged for the guacamole. However, based on our experience, the guacamole does not warrant an upcharge. We chose pork carnitas. Guests can order chicken instead.

The taco entrée comes with a few tri-colored tortilla chips.  The portion size looks small for the money, but United Parks tends to charge more for à la carte items to promote their all-day dining plan. The tacos did not look very appetizing.  Still, that has not stopped us before.

The chips are basic and a little on the stale side. Since these chips are used for the nachos sold here, we caution ordering those based on this entree. The tacos are not overly filled. The pork carnitas are a challenge to eat since they are not cut up or pulled apart sufficiently before being placed in the soft tortilla shells.

Kookaburra Kitchen Aquatica Orlando Review

So, how did these taste? Our first taco tasted pretty bland. The guacamole adds very little, so we would not recommend that upcharge. The other components were just okay.

These tacos fall under the category of okay, but we would choose other options, such as the Crispy Fish Sandwich. These might make a good change of pace during a day when a guest purchased all-day dining. Nevertheless, we suggest ordering something else at Kookaburra Kitchen or another dining option at Aquatica Orlando.
