On Thursday, August 20, from 3 p.m. to close local time, guests who visit participating U.S. Chipotle locations wearing school gear, including middle school, high school, or college tees, sweatshirts, jerseys, or hats, can buy one entrée and get a second entrée for free.

In response to a popular TikTok trend where fans rely on Chipotle for an easy end-of-weekend meal, Chipotle is offering a free entrée when guests purchase two or more entrées after 3 p.m. local time on the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com, or Chipotle.ca using promo code SUNDAYS.

“Back-to-school season is all about showing your school spirit and getting back into the routines that make the week feel a little easier,” said Stephanie Perdue, senior vice president of brand marketing at Chipotle. “Whether you’re repping your school or resetting with Chipotle on a Sunday, these offers are about meeting our guests in the moments that matter to them with real food and great value.”

Jalapeno Concern

Chipotle uses diced fresh jalapeños in its guacamole, fresh tomato salsa, and roasted chili-corn salsa to add crisp texture and a clean, grassy heat. In addition, adobo-marinated chipotle peppers, which are smoke-dried jalapeños, are blended into their signature marinade for proteins like chicken, steak, and barbacoa to give them a deep, smoky flavor profile. Since fresh jalapeños are used uncooked in raw prep items like salsas and guacamole, supply chain contamination can pose a risk.

In August 2026, Chipotle proactively pulled fresh jalapeños from affected restaurants after health authorities linked a multistate Salmonella outbreak to peppers supplied from Sinaloa, Mexico. Chipotle swapped in peppers from alternate growers, and the CDC confirmed no ongoing risk at their locations.
