Everglazed just dropped the Hot Honey Cornbread Donut, but does it live up to the hype? Read our full review for the spicy details.

If there is one thing we know about Disney Springs, it’s that you can’t throw a rock without hitting a carbohydrate. However, at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, the carbohydrates don’t just exist; they demand your undivided attention and a significant portion of your daily caloric budget. They just added donut hole skewers to the menu for five dollars.
Their latest limited-time offering, the Hot Honey Cornbread Donut, sounds like a fever dream cooked up by a Southern chef who spent too much time in a bakery. Let us not forget that Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew is part of the same restaurant group as Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. Naturally, we had to see if this “sweet-meets-heat” treat lived up to its robust title.
The Hot Honey Cornbread Donut Breakdown: What’s Under the Glaze?

The architecture of this donut is ambitious. It starts with the standard Everglazed vanilla iced donut—a solid, if somewhat predictable, foundation. It is then topped with crumbled cornbread, a dollop of honey buttercream, and a drizzle of the cult-favorite Mike’s Hot Honey.

At $6.95 (though we happily shaved off a few cents with our 10% Annual Passholder discount), it sits firmly in the “premium” category. It’s an extra $2 upgrade over their basic vanilla iced donut, and in the world of theme park snacking, two dollars is the difference between a side of extra sauce or a very small portion of hope.
The Taste Test: A Slow Burn (Or Not?)

We don’t usually visit Everglazed for the base donuts; we come for the “over-the-top, how-am-I-supposed-to-fit-this-in-my-mouth” spectacles. Our first two bites of the Hot Honey Cornbread Donut were, frankly, a bit of a mystery. The cornbread and hot honey were entirely negligible factors. It felt like eating a very expensive vanilla donut while someone in the next room whispered the word “honey.”

However, by the third bite, we finally started to grasp the chef’s intentions. The honey buttercream is, as per usual at Everglazed, absolutely phenomenal. It’s rich, velvety, and carries the weight of the entire snack on its sugary shoulders. When you finally hit a pocket where the vanilla glaze meets the cornbread, it actually works quite well. The savory grit of the cornbread provides a nice textural contrast to the soft dough.

The biggest disappointment? The “Hot” in the Hot Honey. If you are a fan looking for a major spicy kick to cut through the sugar, you’re going to be left waiting at the station. Based on our experience, the heat is a subtle background flavor at best. It’s more of a gentle suggestion of spice rather than a robust flavor profile.
Hot Honey Cornbread Donut: To Buy or Not to Buy?

Is it a good donut? Yes. It’s hard to make a bad donut when buttercream and Mike’s Hot Honey are involved. However, the title promises a flavor explosion that the actual product delivers in a whisper.
When you look at the stellar lineup of “donut stars” on the everyday menu that also cost $6.95, like the Peanut Butter Explosion or the Brooklyn Blackout, the Hot Honey Cornbread Donut feels a bit like the opening act that stayed on stage a little too long. It’s a fun experiment for a limited time, but we aren’t sure it’s worth the $2 premium over the standard vanilla iced donut. If you want a solid snack, go for it. If you want a life-changing spicy-sweet epiphany, you might want to stick to the classics.
