McDonald’s Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal: ‘KittyZilla’ Toys Arrive August 18

McDonald’s Hello Kitty Godzilla Happy Meal lands nationwide on August 18 with eight kaiju mashup toys, from Kuromi to Cinnamoroll.
Somewhere in a McDonald’s boardroom, someone pitched “What if Hello Kitty wore a Godzilla suit” with a straight face, and honestly, we respect it. Starting Tuesday, August 18, 2026, participating U.S. McDonald’s locations are rolling out the Hello Kitty and Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal, an eight-toy collaboration that mashes up Sanrio’s roster of impossibly cute characters with some of Toho’s most iconic kaiju. McDonald’s is calling it “Cute Meets Kaiju,” and fans online have already nicknamed it KittyZilla, which honestly might be the better title.
What’s in the Hello Kitty Godzilla Happy Meal Box

This isn’t McDonald’s first Sanrio rodeo. Hello Kitty and friends teamed up with Yu-Gi-Oh back in 2024, then went full Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2025 with a twelve-piece set. KittyZilla trims things down to eight collectible figures, but the concept is a lot weirder (in a good way. Each Sanrio character keeps its signature silhouette while borrowing a specific kaiju’s most recognizable features. The expected Hello Kitty Godzilla Happy Meal lineup is:
- Hello Kitty x Godzilla
- Kuromi x Mechagodzilla
- My Melody x Mothra
- Chococat x SpaceGodzilla
- Badtz-Maru x Rodan
- Keroppi x King Ghidorah
- Cinnamoroll x Destoroyah
- Pompompurin x Gigan
McDonald’s senior marketing director Guillaume Huin called the collection one of the best Happy Meal toy lineups he’s seen, and going by the reaction on social media since the August 12 reveal, plenty of collectors agree. The Chococat and Cinnamoroll pairings in particular are getting attention since neither character shows up in major U.S. promotions very often.
When and Where to Get the Hello Kitty Godzilla Happy Meal
The promotion launches nationwide at participating U.S. McDonald’s locations on August 18, 2026, for a limited time, with each Happy Meal including one of the eight toys at random. As with most Happy Meal drops, expect distribution to vary by location, so grabbing a complete set may take more than one trip (or a friendly conversation with the crew at the counter). Pricing wasn’t officially published for this specific promotion, but expect it to fall in line with standard Happy Meal pricing at your local restaurant.
This launch continues a busy 2026 for McDonald’s entertainment tie-ins, following the BT21 Happy Meal in July and the KPop Demon Hunters promotion earlier this year. If the pattern holds, don’t be surprised if a Kaiju-themed McFlurry or specialty sauce shows up alongside the toys before the promotion wraps.
Should You Go?
If you’ve got a kid (or an inner child) who’s into either kawaii or kaiju, this is a genuinely fun crossover worth checking out, and it’s rare enough that McDonald’s brings together two fanbases this different under one Happy Meal box. In the meantime, keep an eye on participating restaurant availability, since this is a limited-time offer and popular pairings like Hello Kitty x Godzilla itself are likely to go fast. August 18 will be a tough day to decide where to visit with this and Pokemon Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
