Legoland Florida just delivered an early holiday gift. The official opening date for its next big-bang attraction, GalactiCoaster, was finally announced during the opening night celebration of Legoland Holiday. After months of teasers, spaceship silhouettes, and enough cosmic clues to make even NASA raise an eyebrow, we now know that guests will be able to blast off on this all-new ride starting February 27, 2026.

The big reveal didn’t just drop quietly. It happened live during the park’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:45 p.m., the signature media moment of the evening and the centerpiece of Legoland’s holiday kickoff festivities.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony That Turned Into a Cosmic Celebration

The night’s ceremony wasn’t your average countdown-to-twinkly-lights moment. Legoland stacked the stage with an out-of-this-world lineup:

  • “Space Gal” Emily Calandrelli
  • LEGO Santa (jollier than ever despite being assembled from thousands of bricks)
  • A cast of special friends that were, quite literally, out-of-this-world

Between the holiday cheer, live performers, media cameras, and enough glittering LEDs to guide a sleigh or a spaceship, the crowd erupted the moment the GalactiCoaster opening date was officially announced. It felt like opening the biggest present under the LEGO tree.

As the ceremony unfolded, the sky erupted into a fully choreographed space spectacle, with hundreds of
synchronized drones forming glowing shapes, including rockets, LEGO bricks, and the resort’s brand-new
character, Space Creature. The custom-designed show was created exclusively for Legoland Florida,
blending cutting-edge drone technology with the playful personality of LEGO storytelling.

Galacticoaster invites guests to design their own spacecraft using interactive touchscreens and RFID
wristbands capable of recognizing 625 possible design combinations. As guests board, their personalized
spacecraft becomes part of a dynamic interstellar journey powered by synchronized lighting, projection,
an immersive LEGO solar system, projection sequences, and character-driven story moments – all
culminating in a fully customized ride experience unlike anything the park has offered before. The new
area will also feature a DUPLO space-themed play experience and a dedicated LEGO Galaxy retail shop.

What We Know About GalactiCoaster (So Far)

Even with the date now confirmed, Legoland Florida is still keeping narrative details locked tighter than a minifig’s hairpiece. Here’s what we can piece together based on construction, hints, and tonight’s energy:

  • A colorful, cosmic theme tied to LEGO’s iconic space sets
  • Family-friendly thrills suitable for a wide spectrum of riders
  • A storyline likely involving missions, mischief, and maybe a friendly alien or two
  • A queue that will almost certainly include LEGO jokes
  • Guests can “design their own spacecraft”

Though the park didn’t share new specifics about the track, vehicles, or show scenes tonight, the confirmed opening date finally gives families something concrete to plan for, other than their next build.

Announcing a space-themed coaster during a festive winter event turned out to be the perfect blend of holiday magic and interstellar hype. Snowfall machines, seasonal music, and LEGO Santa dancing with astronauts may not be traditional, but the combination worked spectacularly. Guests stayed glued to the stage for the full ceremony, and media crews captured every flash, cheer, and cosmic confetti burst as the opening date appeared.

With a GalactiCoaster opening date announcement officially in the books, Legoland Florida is gearing up to release more details over the coming months. Expect sneak peeks at the coaster’s vehicles, storyline, and maybe even some behind-the-scenes looks at how many bricks were used. Our estimate reaches somewhere between “a lot” and “galaxy-breaking”.

One thing is sure: next year is shaping up to be an interstellar one for Legoland Florida Resort. Stay tuned: we’ll have updates, photos, and mission briefings as soon as they drop. Until then, keep your helmets shiny and your minifig astronauts ready. GalactiCoaster looks almost cleared for takeoff on February 27, 2026.

Also, please remember that the Legoland Galacticoaster Contest offers a chance to be one of the first people to ride Galacticoaster. Merlin Entertainments is also launching a nationwide Junior
Galaxy Explorers initiative, inviting children ages six to 12 to design and build their own LEGO spacecraft
for a chance to become one of the first riders on Galacticoaster. The program aims to spark creativity,
curiosity, and confidence in young innovators while celebrating hands-on exploration inspired by the
universe.
