From writer, producer and director Favreau for Walt Disney Studios, the animation/live-action hybrid is about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a saucy, self-absorbed bunny.
Cabot-Conyers will play Jake, a hardworking middle school student with a big heart.
Harris will play Jen, an artistic middle schooler who is always ahead of the game.
Allen will play Taylor, a middle school student who is cautious but avoids turning down his friends.
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as a character is very important to the Walt Disney Co. The cartoon, which bears a close resemblance to Mickey Mouse, has a fractured history with the company and played a pivotal role in the creation of Disney’s most famous animated character. Oswald was created in 1927 by Walt Disney and featured in 27 animated shorts. But after Universal took control of the character in 1928, Disney created a new character as a replacement: Mickey Mouse.
Bringing Oswald home had been a priority for Disney CEO Bob Iger, and The Walt Disney Co. acquired the trademark in 2006. The character entered the public domain in 2023.
Cabot-Conyers’ recent credits include playing Wim in the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew, voicing Antonio in the hit Disney animated film Encanto, and playing Leo in the feature thriller Grassland. He is repped by Entertainment 360, Paradigm and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
Harris is best known for her work opposite Nicole Kidman in HBO’s Big Little Lies, Showtime’s The Affair, ABC’s Mixed-ish as Santamonica Johnson, and playing a young Raven-Symoné in the Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home. She is repped by The Osbrink Agency, OPE Partners and Del Shaw.
Allen most recently played a young Oswald Cobblepott, working opposite Colin Farrellas older Oz, in HBO Max’s The Penguin. He also starred as Sam in the Justin Timberlake-led Apple film Palmer. He is repped by Paradigm and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller et al.
