The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2025 continues to reel in adventurous eaters, and one of this year’s more intriguing dishes comes from the new Bramblewood Bites outdoor kitchen, located along the walkway between World Showcase and the Imagination! Pavilion. For $7.25, you can snag the Epcot River Trout with vanilla-butternut squash purée, a Brussels sprouts salad, candied pecans, spiced pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, and maple dressing. That’s also a fancy way of saying, “Here’s fall on a plate… served in the middle of Florida’s relentless summer.”

A Quick Look at the Festival

Epcot Food & Wine

The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is one of Walt Disney World’s longest-running culinary events, drawing foodies from around the globe. Dozens of outdoor kitchens pop up across the park, offering seasonal bites, small plates, and international flavors. While the festival celebrates cozy autumn themes, it begins long before the weather cooperates, making hot dishes like the Epcot River Trout an oddly comical experience in the mid-90s Florida sun.

Guests can be found huddled under sparse umbrellas or, more commonly, balancing festival plates atop shiny Epcot trash cans. Walt Disney World may not offer much shade, but it does offer convenient “tabletop” garbage bins for a true theme park dining experience.

The Cast Iron-seared River Trout at Bramblewood Bites Outdoor Kitchen Experience

Cast Iron-seared River Trout

First, let’s clear the air: while the menu promises “cast iron-seared” trout, we never actually saw a cast iron skillet. Still, we’ll assume the Walt Disney World chefs wielded one with flair behind the scenes, because the fish arrived with a delicate sear and tender texture that impressed for a festival portion.

The vanilla-butternut squash purée is a standout star on its own. Sweet, silky, and comforting, it also balances beautifully with the light trout. In fact, it’s good enough to warrant a side dish status, if only it came in a full bowl.

The Brussels sprouts salad, however, was the weak link. While its mix of cranberries, pecans, pumpkin seeds, and maple dressing promised a crunchy fall festival dream, the reality was a bit tougher to chew—literally. Some pieces were stubborn enough to make you consider bringing dental insurance paperwork along with your MagicBand.

On the plus side, the toppings did their job: candied pecans and spiced pumpkin seeds gave each bite a nice autumnal pop, and the maple dressing tied the salad together. Of course, when it wasn’t being overpowered by those stubborn greens.

Epcot River Trout: Dining in the Heat of “Fall”

Here’s the irony: Walt Disney World presents this as a fall-inspired dish, but it’s usually enjoyed in Florida’s heat. Nothing says “cozy autumn harvest” quite like sweating through your shirt while balancing the Epcot River Trout on a trash can lid. Still, the flavors were surprisingly hearty and satisfying, making it worth a slight sunburn and a sticky maple-dressing situation.

Cast Iron-seared River Trout: Value and Portion

At $7.25, the Epcot River Trout feels like a solid value for the festival. The portion is a reasonable size with a respectable cut of trout and also an adequate amount of purée and salad. While it may not become your all-time favorite festival bite, it’s certainly one worth trying if you’re looking for something different than the usual pork sliders and cheese-stuffed bread.

Epcot River Trout Was a Pleasant Surprise

Epcot River Trout

The Epcot River Trout is a pleasant surprise at the Bramblewood Bites kitchen. Despite a salad that left us chewing more than we’d like, the fish and purée combo shines. If you’re up for a fall-flavored dish in Florida’s summer heat and don’t mind balancing your meal on a trash can, it’s worth adding to your Food & Wine checklist. Just don’t expect actual autumn weather, or an actual cast iron sighting.
