Sweets are usually a highlight of the annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, but the new Cinnamon Beignets from The Citrus Blossom unfortunately miss the mark during opening week.
Located inside Epcot, The Citrus Blossom is known for leaning into bright, refreshing citrus flavors that pair well with the festival’s springtime atmosphere. This year, the Cinnamon Beignets Epcot chefs tossed in lemon sugar with lemon glaze and honey mead–blueberry compote sounded like a promising addition. In practice, however, the dish struggles to live up to the expectations guests have come to expect from this event.
Cinnamon Beignets Epcot Flower & Garden Festival 2026: What You Get

For $5.29, guests receive five small beignets tossed in lemon sugar and drizzled with lemon glaze, served alongside a honey mead–blueberry compote intended for dipping. On paper, it checks several appealing boxes: citrus brightness, fried pastry comfort, and a fruit-forward sauce. Unfortunately, the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
A Bright Lemon Start
The best part of the dish is easily the lemon component. The lemon glaze adds a pleasant zing that cuts through the sweetness and gives the dessert a refreshing citrus pop. The lemon sugar coating reinforces that flavor and complements the spring festival theme. For guests who enjoy citrus desserts, these elements do provide a moment where the dish shows some promise.
The Texture Problem
The biggest issue with these beignets is texture. Classic beignets are known for their airy, fluffy interiors and a light,, crisp exterior. These versions rarely achieve that iconic consistency. Instead, the pastries tend to come across as dry and slightly chewy, lacking the soft pillowy bite that makes a great beignet so satisfying. Without that fluffy factor, the dessert quickly becomes heavy and less enjoyable the further you get into the portion.
A Frustrating Blueberry Compote

The honey mead–blueberry compote sounds interesting but ultimately ends up being one of the dish’s most disappointing elements. First, the consistency makes it difficult to use as a dip with the small beignets. Guests often find themselves awkwardly trying to scoop sauce onto the pastry rather than dipping naturally.
Second, the flavor itself is surprisingly muted. Instead of delivering a bold burst of blueberry or honey sweetness, the sauce comes across as fairly average and subdued, making it feel more like an afterthought than an essential part of the dish.
Not the Festival’s Strongest Sweet

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival usually delivers standout desserts across its outdoor kitchens. Compared to many other festival sweets, these beignets simply don’t stand out.
That said, the price point offers at least one redeeming factor. At $5.29, guests aren’t risking a large amount of money to try them. For festival regulars who enjoy sampling everything, the low price makes the gamble a bit easier. Still, with so many stronger dessert options available around Epcot during the festival, these Cinnamon Beignets are
Cinnamon Beignets Epcot Flower & Garden Festival

While the lemon glaze provides a pleasant citrus kick, the overall dish feels dry, average, and somewhat forgettable. Between the chewy texture and the underwhelming compote, this is one festival dessert that fails to rise to the occasion. If you’re exploring the many food booths at this year’s Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, you may want to save your appetite and your festival budget for something a bit more memorable.
