Chocolate Yule Log is here for Universal Orlando Holidays, offering a cute presentation, a mild orange-flavored twist, and an above-average dessert experience.

Universal Orlando Holidays are back, which means twinkling lights, festive food, and at least one dessert that tries to ambush you with an unexpected “gotcha!” flavor. Enter the Chocolate Yule Log, available for $6.49 at San Francisco Pastry Company (Universal Studios Florida) and Croissant Moon Bakery (Islands of Adventure).

Yes, the same dessert in two parks. Universal Orlando Resort is making sure that no matter where you are, you can be mildly confused by mousse.

Presentation: A Mini Log With Big Holiday Energy

Chocolate Yule Log

The Chocolate Yule Log may be small, but it is unreasonably adorable. The one we picked up (photo attached) looks like a perfectly polished miniature tree stump. It is so realistic, you might whisper “sorry” to it before cutting in.

Here’s what stands out:

  • Bark-textured sides: The dessert has a detailed faux-wood exterior, like something straight out of a forest-themed bake-off.
  • Tree-ring swirl top: A charming spiral design mimics tree growth rings, elevating this from “holiday treat” to “woodland artifact.”
  • Festive holly topper: The bright green frosting holly leaves with red berries add instant holiday flair. It’s cheerful and very theme-park cute.
  • Hand-held size: It conveniently fits on a small black plate, making it easy to photograph lagoon-side and equally easy to drop if you’re too excited.

Overall, the presentation is polished, seasonal, and striking enough to make other desserts jealous. That includes the Elegant Ornament found only at Today Cafe.

What Exactly Is a Chocolate Yule Log?

It sounds decadent, rich, and ready to perform at the Holiday Parade.

Chocolate Yule Log: The Official Menu Description… That Guests Never See

Chocolate Yule Log

Universal’s official description is: Chocolate and orange mousse with chocolate cake and orange marmalade.

And here’s the catch: this description appears absolutely nowhere for guests ordering the dessert.
Not on the menu boards, not in the bakery case, not on a little sign, not scribbled on a napkin — nowhere. So, unless you’ve already read this blog, you will have zero warning that your chocolate treat contains a built-in citrus subplot. If you love chocolate-orange combos, this is fine. If you don’t… well, surprise.

Let’s Talk About the Orange Situation (Now Confirmed!)

Chocolate Yule Log

Now that we have the actual description, it makes perfect sense:

There is orange mousse.
There is orange marmalade.
Chocolate is definitely sharing custody of this dessert.

Still, even knowing that, the orange flavor is surprisingly mild.
In our testing, including the extremely scientific act of isolating a whole forkful of orange mousse, it remained subtle. You’ll notice it, sure, but it won’t overpower the chocolate or try to hijack the dessert entirely. It’s more of a cameo than a starring role. Still, guests deserve to know it’s in there before buying it… which currently, they do not.

Chocolate Yule Log: Texture & Flavor Breakdown

Chocolate Yule Log
  • Chocolate cake: moist, soft, and a strong foundation for the dessert
  • Chocolate mousse: light and creamy
  • Orange mousse: subtle citrus notes, not sharp or aggressive
  • Orange marmalade: faint but present, giving little pops of brightness
  • Overall bite: rich chocolate with a hint of “Wait… is that orange?”

So How Good Is It Really?

Chocolate Yule Log Universal Orlando

We found this to be an above-average dessert.
Not exceptional.
Not the crown jewel of Universal Holidays.

Still, it is a good, reliable, enjoyable option, especially for fans of chocolate-forward treats who don’t mind a mild citrus cameo. At $6.49, the presentation alone makes it feel like a seasonal splurge worth trying at least once.
